Canon 6D is their answer to the D600; cheap FF with (hopefully) not many sacrifices.

Pricing already revealed to be $2099 body only (adorama accidentally allowed pre-orders and the page to be posted...)

It will sell, and price other cameras even better (yay cheaper 5dII's!)

I love me some digic 5+ processing though, and hopefully video is a bit sharper than the 5dIII. 1080p60 would be a huge game changer

Did i compare Canon to other companies? No. I guess what im trying to say is that Canon could easily produce a camera that shoots at 1080 60p in a DSLR body but instead they keep making the same cameras with different names and a few gimmicky extras because its cheaper and easier then an overhaul.

no, they don't have to do anything but please their stockholders and bring in more money. We are entitled to nothing from them. They do not owe the average consumer ANYTHING. If using the same sensor for 3 years and slightly changing the body gets them millions in profit without having to spend R&D money on new technology, then that's what they'll do. Sure they may be abandoning some parts of the market, but lets face it, the indie/budget filmmaker scene is not going to make or break their market.

Its obvious a company does not owe us anything thats not what im getting at. We are simply there dallar signs on there fat checks. But come on man canon is going to have to address the market at some point. Ya they stumbled into the dslr film making world and dominated it for years. But thats over and canon will have to adress the market with a new camera that competes with the other cameras. They simply wont just throw away that huge market and give it to panasonic and black magic. If they do adress it i hope its soon. Dont want to have to get rid of all my cannon glass.

I agree 264 isn't the best coded. And you don't know fuck how the moire and aliasing will be.

1dX best dslr: well actually according to EISA, that would be the d4 from nikon. yes the 1D is amazing but you sound like a fanboy.

best lens line up: yes canon is complete especially in the zoom range, some argue nikon is better, zeiss lenses are amazing... lets say they are the best, maybee, but not by far... fanboy

best af system: "the eos m does not have the fastest autofocus on the market but it is very fast and smooth": a statement along these lines made by canon. Thats one camera, I have a 7D and yes that thing is fucking fast. but sony just put out the a 99 with dual focusing semi translucent technology, it teaches canon a lesson on focusing and especialy teaches them and fanboys like you that its possible to have a good focus tracking system.

Revolutionised video: yes to this I will agree, the 5D was a fucking breakthrough, 5 or so years ago. ever since then they litterally improved nothing to their codec, compression, sensors or frame rate. Sony has caught up and destroyed canon on many points. 1080 60p ring a bell? we have been asking for it for years, canon is capable of doing it, sony has been doing it for 2 years now. the a 57 (750$) has 1080 60p with fucking real phase detect autofocus! canon took away pixels on the t3i so it could calculate focus better and gave us the shitty excuse for a camera that is called the t4i. lets be real, its a glorrified point and shoot with a poor excuse for autofocus. but fanboys love it!

Best customer support: this is actualy the one that made me want to respond to your fucking mouth vomit. Its the one thing I fucking hate about canon. For THREE fucking years we have been asking for canon to update the 7D to have manual audio controls. 3 fucking years and they put out 60d,t3i,t4i and never fucking update the audio until now. easiest fix in the world and they ignored their customers for three fucking years and gave them shitty consumer versions with exactly what they wanted. I also work as a camera salesman, I have worked in this department for 3 years and Im selected every year for a trip to vendor fair where we meet the brands and talk about different upcoming models. In my 3 years never have I seen or heard about a canon rep in the region of montreal. At this vendor fair, we see one rep who never goes to any stores in canada, he is the only one who knows his products, the other ones are hired fucking extras who are there to look pretty. so no canon has no fucking support for their products. but fanboys like yourself dont see that aspect of this company.

you just throw arround words like "the best", place an noun and maybee an adjective and in your mind this great new sentence you created is true: "canon is the best at fast sensor!" well fuck, I guess its official then, the fanboy has spoken! canon is a good company that has stagnated and is starting to cator more and more to the consummer than the pro, lets face it!

I have no complaints, I picked up a t2i body for $380 well over a year ago and the image it produces is amazing for that price. I really don't care for all the specifications that people might hate on, when movies like "The Eighty Six" are filmed with 7d's, unless you're producing something better than it, you should really stop bitching because you haven't used it to it's potential

mind you the money they spend on rigs and extra equipment along with shoot techniques and post production push the limits of what any amateur can afford/ have knowledge to do. film making is so much more than your camera.

Canon revolutionizing video was a total fluke. And since then they have have done little to improve their DSLRs' video capabilities. Of course you can't argue that the tXi's, 7D, and the 5dii/iii are capable of producing great video. BUT, Panasonic and Sony have made marked improvements with every new release as far as video features. For example, the GH2 made huge improvements over the GH1, and the GH3 will make more huge improvements over the GH2. Because they actually listened to what their customers wanted out of the camera. Canon doesn't do that, they simply make marginal improvements (talking video features here) with every model increment, and everyone goes out and throws money at them because their marketing is pretty good, and because so many people are invested in their glass that is so difficult to adapt to other systems.

1dx is better than the d4. AF consistancy and tracking, better noise and image performance, and better video by far. The d4 sucks for vid unless it's in it's 4x crop mode (which blows the 1dX away, but that's pointless for regular day to day shooting with a FF beast). Oh yeah, screen has a green tint issue.

The AF issue: 1dX has the best AF of any cam in it's class. End of discussion. The SLT cameras aren't all that great, to be totally honest.

Canon customer service: Get a CPS membership, stat. It's the most beautiful thing i've ever spent $100 on. And that 7d audio comment is a moot point, see my post about them being a business who's priority isn't 150,000 filmmakers with 7D's, it's the 15,000,000 consumers that want rebels. They listened too, eventually...



Some of you guys get so butthurt about Canon. I can totally agree about them not posting anything revolutionary since the 1DX, but god, you guys think everything they do sucks and they're soooo awful.

That sample footage looked great. They know how to shoot so you notice noise less. Regardless the iso performance and sample footage overall looked promising. Not a huge improvement, but who cares? It's another camera suited for certain peoples needs. You don't like it, it isn't enough for you? Guess what... Don't get it. Even the 60p, for me at least, makes this well worth the 300ish over a 5dii.

Customer Support is CPS. It's an amazing program and everyone on it gets extremely good care.

If anyone here can tell me that Nikon users haven't been wanting decent video for the last 3 years, please make that false claim.

Can you really expect Canon to put 1080p 120fps in a 700$ Rebel? Because it sure as fuck sounds like you retards are waiting for that. Keep on waiting, in 3 years it might.
I'm so tired of people expecting that every newer model is supposed to revolutionize the market.
What changed between the 20D and 40D? Couple extra megapixels, bigger LCD. Also: 3 years in between and yet nobody seems to be complaining about that. Just because you bought a t2i a year ago, that doesn't mean you can all of a sudden start judging canon for putting out bad products. Like I said: If you don't like it, switch systems and shut the fuck up.

The 6D is an amazing camera for the price. If anyone (like every person in this thread is doing) can tell me with a straight face that it isn't worth the 300$ over the 5D mkII, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

The 'I don't give a shit' was for my personal use: I'm not going to buy a 2k camera. My 5Dc does just fiiiine and is a very capable camera. For a quarter of the price. I should have been a little more eloquent in that case maybe. But that doesn't mean the 6D is a GREAT camera and deserves recognition. The things it offers over the mkII are insane imo. Maybe not for video (only 720p 60fps added there. In combination with Digic5 it should work wonders though), but for photo it's an incredibly nice camera. MUCH better than the mkII.

Have you guys ever thought that Canon is a photo company first and a video company second? Like, in the late 90's early 00's, Panasonic and Sony dominated the video market, then they dominated the HD video market. Yes, Canon was the first to put an HD capable camera in a DLSR, interchangeable lens form factor, but Sony and Panasonic are still dominating the video world, because they make VIDEO camera's first. TV camera's are all Panasonic, and they both dominate the 1080p TV market, along with Samsung, who guess what, also makes great camcorders. Do you see Canon and Nikon making TV's, no because they STICK TO WHAT THEY ARE GOOD AT!!! Like fuck, Canon absolutely nailed the 1dX, it POOOOPS on the D4; and then nikon goes and puts 36 megapixels in a 35mm sensor, and before you hate, my good friend just bought one and it is SO SHARP, even with a cheap lens it nails it. Like, guys, they make PHOTO CAMERA'S. Canon never made amazing video cameras before the HD-DSLR days, and nikon never even made them to begin with. Also, in terms of lens optical quality, they both SHIT on most of the native m4/3's lenses, excluding the Leica made Panasonic's. You guys all know that most people shooting with a gh2 use either vintage glass or modern nikon lenses, and I'm sure that they would also use Canon's if the adapter wasn't $500. Stop hating on Canon, it's not just a coincidence that 90% of the photographers at the olympics were shooting Canon 1d's with super tele's. Canon and Nikon both make fucking amazing photo cameras, just the fact that they think to put video in there is showing that they know what a photo-journalist needs.

END FUCKING RANT, grow up and stop being vagina's.

Also, action sports video is such a small percent of the market, that for Canon/Nikon to put 1080p at 60 frames in there would be pointless compared to spending the same R&D on better noise handling or something that the other 90% would actually use. Most people who film shoot at 1080p 24/30 frames. So yeah, go ahead and buy your gh3's, tokina 11-16's, glidecams and keep on copying DTF.

But really, canon could easily put 1080p60 in their low end dslrs, but they dont want to out perform their high end video cameras, plain and simple.

Also, canon gl2 was arguably one of the best mini dv cameras and xl1/xl2 xha1 are all great dv/hdv camera. They are behind in HD video, the c100/300/500 has been their market though, i feel like they dont care as much about consumers right now.
