This is kind of a strange question but why do the jefferey's and billygoats have rounded tip and tail whereas all the rest have that straighter squared tipped?

Cease and Desist, Vicik, Tychoon, Wrenegade and the ones you mentioned don't have straighter squared tips/tails.

Only the Filthy, Caylor, Pillowfight do.

So that's a third of the lineup that don't have rounded tips/tails.

I can't see the problem, that's how they are designed...

Its not a problem just why ? is there an advantage to a squared tip for park?

I can only imagine that squared tips are easier production wise and/or they aren't going in the deep stuff as much as the rest of the lineup.

Rounded tips possibly maybe easier to ski in the deep because of the "streamlined" look or they don't hook as easy.

I know nothing about ski design/production.

I think it boils down to what worked better for the particular ski. If you recall last years Billygoat had a more squared tip with lots of taper. I don't think they liked the way the shape performed, even though the rest of the ski was pretty dialed. They certainly don't shape their tips to to conform to some trademark. It's all about performance.

Honestly, a person. I had an idea of what the Jeffrey rocker profile was going to be like, but blown up at 186, in person, was a different story than a picture. I was stoked that it was massive. Only way to have a good sense of it is to have something equally as big to compare to.


Also, alien dragon topsheets are too sick.

I don't think rounded tips would be wildly more difficult to manufacture than a square tip. But square tips certainly are a better use of material.

Performance wise at least on a park ski, I think a square tip would be more durable because of its bluntness and how it would spread the impact across the whole tip as opposed to a focused point. But honestly that's such a negligible point that I wouldn't let it affect the purchase of a park ski.

And those alien dragon topsheets look pretty good! Had seen some other pictures of a topsheet somewhere and it looked like it had an airplane graveyard on it. So much win.

As I said in the bottom of my post, I don't know anything about ski production. It's just a load of bullshit that I came up with.

Until Rowen/Scott can provide any insight as to why some of their skis have squared tips/tails, I'll keep my mouth shut!

Tip shape is dictated by performance, not by looks. Different tip shapes go through snow in different ways, and we're always making subtle changes and improvements to make our skis better. Sometimes tip shape changes just because other aspects of the ski have changed, like sidecut or rocker and the way they interact with the tip shape. Sorry its a very unclear dual answer, but this is truly whats resulted in various tip designs over the years. One thing is universal however - the tip shape thats on a ski right now is there because its was our favorite out of the many prototypes and test days we get to have all year.

Not really thinking these are the cambered park ski anymore, it has the lettering that we saw on the FR veneer that was inspired by next year's. Kutcher's instagram pic makes them look more like the profile from the current FR. I suppose we will have to wait to find out!

Talked with the guy that sold you guys all of the finishing equipment for the shop on a chair this weekend. I believe his name was David. Either way, interesting guy, took a few laps with him. He was super interested in the skis, and was stoked that I was stoked on them. Nerd out with him at SIA. He's cool.

is it even possible to get a core shot on these skis? let alone a scratch? i've been skiing over way too many rocks in all the wrong ways and the bases look good as new. i have such confidence in my caylors. keep it up, you guys rule!

This. Where I ski rocks are everywhere I have landed drops on rocks and hit some real bad ones and I only had a couple scratches on the base that my brother buffed out while waxing them.

Had one on my Caylors in probably about 100 or so days of skiing, it was my fault thought snow cover on the landing wasn't what I thought it was.

i retract my last statement. bridger was insanely deep and light today, 25+ inches overnight. skied into a creek covered with snow. lost my right ski, got a core shot in my left. going back tomorrow to look for it again, but with 18 more inches expected tonight, it may be pretty difficult. wish me luck. i want my baby back.
