really newschoolers?


i'm sorry. but you've got to be kidding me.

you guys really want to pay money to support another stock webisode series. family vacation wasn't unoriginal enough..

this is directed specifically at Mr. Bishop
you are claiming that you want newschoolers to promote skiing in a fresh and badass way. i'm referring mostly to the First Drop ads that you were claiming were controversial and therefore good for the website..

so why would you host this entire pilot project contest to support a webisode series that is no different than the last one that you supported. i get it. westward made top 3 last year and now this is their year for redemption. but honestly. who cares.

calvin said it well although he hated pretty hard
"how to make a webisode: buy a nice camera, find like 20 mediocre skiers with stock tricks and stock style, huck doubles and 630s, film cork 7s for the rest of the time as filler, if skiers get tired of cork 7s and switch rodeos just film interviews that just state the obvious situation from some idiot nobody has ever heard of's perspective of what is happening to him that day. When it's all said and done, you will need to over edit every single clip as much as possible so that people dont notice that the entire thing was unoriginal and uninteresting."


I'm done with this website. you guys are pathetic. I'm pissed we didn't win and heres why. i had no interest in making money from this pilot project, getting some skis, having a countdown or whatever

the skiing in our edit murdered and will continue to murder much harder than WESTWARD TV. the first webisode we planned to release will blow Westwards nonsense out of the water

i can say this with confidence because i wasn't going to create the first webisode. it would have been a movie from the summer in hood river and i was going to give all $300 to our homies in hood river who produced the movie.

well. thats not going to happen.

I'm being a bitch and ranting cause this is wack. this is beyond wack. you guys have disappointed a ton of ppl not just me.

this edit alone shits on westwardTV



way to go schmuck and bishop. hopefully all the fools who dedicate tons of time and interest towards your website are satisfied with this nonsense boring videoblog series.

i'm done contributing to newschoolers. i make ski edits to expose our sport to a larger audience. not to bore the hell out of ppl with interviews, mellow urban rails, and park footage

skiing has become ridiculous lame
and you guys just made it that much lamer.

of course but you can make 1800 in two month of a summer job. 100s of amazing edits have been made with no funding. its not necessary.

Not necessary, but it sure as hell helps make for a better video if spent right. $1800 buys you some fancy camera stuff.

But lets stick to the point, Danny isn't mad that he won't be getting paid for his videos, he's pissed because NS and EP chose a carbon copy ski webisode over his video, which was shot by shot some next level skiing all done by unknown riders. Props to Westward and all, and I bet they worked hard on their entry too, but I think ns missed out big time by not letting Danny have a shot at reaching a much larger audience.

Props on being around the ski scene for so long, thats pretty neat. But seriously man nobody is out to get you, Im guessing you were good but not good enough to make a huge name for yourself, just like most other skiers. You should settle down a bit .

the funny thing about all ur comments is that i still ski better than yall! my edits are mediocre cuz im a skier not a filmedit bitchass that cant do anything else. every trick i did in my edits was in a movie i watched this week, minus the ones no one else can do...yet

Yes you are better than me, you are probably better than most people on this site and you have been around for a while. You act like everyone is out to get you and that it is everyone else's fault that your ski career never took off the way you wanted it to. Thanks for coming up with whatever tricks you did because I'm sure if you didnt no other skier would have ever done them.
Try to find somebody to film/edit for you this season, and maybe people will watch your edits more.

I support skiing being different. I support the freedom to do all manners of things, no matter what they are. Do I like the badass, controversial stuff? Sure. However, that is irrelevant to this situation.

The Pilot Project is set up to be a mixture of the community's voice, and a small panel of judges balanced between Epic Planks, Newschoolers and the previous year's winner. This means that it is not my decision, but rather a decision of all of those people. This is the Pilot Project, and it is awesome, but only one part of the whole puzzle.

I will be honest with you, I think you're being overly critical of Westward. I actually quite like it, though it isn't 'badass and hardcore' they do a great job telling a story and mixing in some development of characters and a small storyline. I have been noticing that series that do more of this seem to be attracting attention. They're a good fit for Epic Planks as a sponsor, who were very happy with the performance of Family Vacation.

I would also like to question your logic that this means I don't support 'badass' stuff. I mean who do you think signed the contract for 4bi9 house?

What we're building at NSTV must have diversity to be interesting. So one by one as the program expands, we reach further and further to get producers or series that are a good fit.

What I'd be curious to hear is what part of you thought exploding like this was a good idea? I mean for christ's sake, this is one contest at the very start of the year. It has a specific set of rules, and we follow them. You didn't win. We have an entire season of NSTV to plan, and I'll be dead honest with you anyone that performs well in any contest we do gets to the top of our list to become a supported series. So until this post, your series was really on my radar as something that I wanted NS to work with. Any series that is popular has a chance of being picked up - and we plan to pick up many more over time. Producers just have to keep working on promoting themselves to us, and to the newschoolers community as a whole.

If you're dead set on leaving in a hissy fit, then I'm afraid I'd agree you should go. I'd encourage you not to though, and instead re-think your actions and keep making a good web series. There's a market for these, and the ones that stay popular are going to go places.
