Best all-mountain ski for me..Beating the dead horse

Don't post on here much, in fact last year I didn't even make it out once due to job. This year I have an opportunity to really get back into my favorite hobby and I want the right skis for the job.
I am 5'11' and 210lbs. Ive always owned K2 twin tips, favorite being my Public Enemies which I still own. I have marker griffon bindings in my attic waiting for a mount and dalbello blender boots that have only seen a few rides. My main mountain is Sugarloaf, with various East Coast spots. Love to carve hard, ski the trees and pow, and do a couple park laps a day. Which ski best suits me?
I have sort of narrowed it down to Kung Fujas and Mantras knowing that mantras carve better and fujas are more playful, so I dont know which way to go. I have also heard a lot about Line Blends, jmos, and tst.
I am really looking to get last year models new to save some cash incase things dont work out like I plan this winter. Price range is really 400-500 and not limited to buying new necessarily. Help is much appreciated.

You may like the Line Prophet 90 or 85, unless you're looking fro twin tips. But those are great DIRECTIONAL all mountain skis.
By the way, just curious, but have you ever been down to the Camden Snow Bowl?

Thanks for all the legit responses. I forgot all about the line prophets, my buddy has the 90s. Definitely a nice ski. I will take a look at the ARVs again and the Turbos as well.
Any opinions on any of the skis I listed? Specifically the Kung Fujas or Mantras?
And no, never been down to ski at Camden. If I am making a long trip I will usually hit SR.

I rode some K2 KF on some pow last season. Seemed to soft for me. But i Like a stiff ski to go fast on.
The mantra is gonna be stiffer than most directional skis. Im just assuming this cause it's a volkl.

Yeah I hear ya. I know a guy that swears by them and shreds lots of terrain with them. There are a lot to choose from thats for sure. I guess I am looking for something that is stiff and can go fast/turn well but also has some width underfoot. A lot of good choices were recommended but some were on the skinny side (by todays standards)

dude the chronics are 92 underfoot and can fly down hill im telling ya you wont go wrong i mean shit if you dont like them if you get them ill legit buy them from you i want the new ones since there redesigned this year to be even better

I believe you. They seem a little more park oriented though. And for me, id rather have a ski that did groomers, crud, and trees best and worry about park performance last.
How would the chronic compare to the blend?

never riden the blend but that look pretty solid i mean i cut through the trees all day and do what sounds you do alot and the chronics are a good groomer too

So I am basically looking for something like the chronics but less geared toward the park and maybe a little fatter.
I read that the Blends aren't really meant to fly down the hill and chatter at high speed so those are out.
Can someone help me out here? I really want a all-mountain ski that has its last priority in the park and can really cut through the crud.
Help

My dad is about 6'1" 200 ish and rides 184 Mantras and absolutely loves them. They blast through everything and even with the tip rocker they never seem to chatter. They seem to be really stable. That being said, they are definitely a directional ski not meant for park and are mounted pretty far back, so if you're looking for something that would work better in the park I would look elsewhere.

Jeronimo, Moment PB&J, Rossignol S3, K2 Iron Maiden... there are a lot of options here. Rocker Camber Rocker + a stiff flex is going to be your money ski. For a cheap option, I'd go with the S3. Its marketed as a smaller S7 now but when it came out it was marketed as a jibby ski and I don't think they've changed it. I skied it in deep (2-3ft) snow and it handled surprisingly well. Did fine in the park too on the couple of laps i took it on. Too stiff for me in general but a good ski.

Thanks for the additional suggestions, I appreciate it since I am just as unsure as when I started the thread if not more.
I know the Mantras are really good one quiver and stiff which is what I need, even though they are directional. I still have PE's and Fujatives so that doesn't bother me much, although I am not going to switch skis to go in the park for a couple runs.
I will check out the Jeronimos and the other suggestions too. Sort of particular in brand, never really been a fan of Atomic or Rossignol for skis.
So let me ask this, if I had to buy a line ski, what do you think would be the best for me? Prophet, blend, chronic, or another?

184 Sir Francis Bacon. Blends are too soft, Chronics are too park oriented. Prophets might be good if you really dont need to hit park much at all.

Ah yes how could I forget about those. They ski like a smaller ski right due to camber? jw because I have always like skis on the shorter side considering my weight. They are also a little more than I wanted to spend but I should be able to find a deal on last years.
Thanks for confirming my suspicion on the blends and chronic though. Guess there really isn't anything in k2s arsenal that would fit my needs well?

they actually measure a bit shorter as well. 184s are around 181ish. I skied the 178 as a park ski all winter and I'm 5'8 135. The size would not be an issue.
K2 wise... the Iron Maiden would be my choice for you if I had to go K2, solid enough to rip around on groomers and nice for the park but perhaps lacking in the pow/trees depending on how much snow you actually get. I really didn't like Fujas much personally though.
Basically I would happily ski anything up to say a foot on a ski 90-95 underfoot, but then if you get a dump they might let you down. At the same time, I skied hardpack all winter on Bacons and loved them. Its all preference, what you're used to etc.

Thanks Twig$, starting to narrow it down. Where did you mount your SFBs considering you skied mostly hardpack?

I actually had mine at true centre because I rode them around 95% in the park. i'd go with recommended (-2cm from true centre) for anything else, maybe even 1cm back of that if park really isnt a priority.

Roger that, thanks. Looks like I have narrowed it down to Prophets, Chronics, SFB, MSP, Turbos, J-mo's, or Mantras for now. Which is good because it was very different a couple of days ago.
I would definitely consider the Maidens but they are only 90 Underfoot. I wish k2 made something similar but wider. Well I guess they do, but I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on the Fujas. Everything else K2 is either their typical 85 or 90 underfoot.
If there is any other suggestions id be glad to hear them.

I would cross off Mantras unless you want to do 0 switch/jibbing since they aren't a twin at all i dont think. I'd also drop Chronics (park ski) and 4frnt dropped the MSP and they were only low-mid 90s underfoot so them too. They added the Cody which I know nothing about but looks like it could be perfect from the specs.
I'd say that should leave the list:
Prophet 98, 4frnt Cody/Turbo, JMO, SFB.

They(mantras) aren't a true twin tip but they are close. You really did help narrow it down though, so thank you. Guess the rest is up to me.
But, like I said, I know there are other brands I am completely ignoring so I am willing to entertain other suggestions. Right now I am thinking SFBs or J-mos.

Turbos and PB&Js are more in my price range but I am unfamiliar with both brands. The SFB and J-mos really interest me but are both a little out of my price range, and the j-mo's are hard to find unless getting brand new.

Turbos are money.
I'm 5'11/195 and I ski the 189s. I had a pair of '11 Fujas(189) before, and they were waaaaaay too soft.
I'd look into the Cody as well. I'm trying to justify buying a pair of those as well.

Been looking into the Prophet 98's a lot this morning and from what Ive read/watched they look like they will do the trick. Having a hard time finding the '12 in 179 though :(

I would get the Bacons but they are a lot of money and while I plan on getting a lot of days in this year you never really know. I said I would buy used if I had to but it is tricky finding something in good enough shape and hopefully mounted for the right size boot already.
Ive read great things about the prophet 98s too. They have the right flex profile and dimensions, and are a great price (for the '12). Just having a hard time finding last years in a 179, seems to have been a popular size.

Lets see if I can squeeze one last question out of this old thread, which has been very helpful mind you.
East coast all mountain shredder with minimum park use....
Sir Francis Bacons or Prophet 98's?
All times are Eastern (-5)
