The rate of progressing in terms of technology is insane. For a long long fucking time things just stayed the same. Now in 3 hundred years everything has changed massively. The last 100 year and then even the last 10 years have huge differences from beginning to end.
Do you think there's ever a point where we will be content with what he have, and just sort of kick it with what's there in the present?
Do you think we're going to keep progressing in a way where the benefits outweigh the negatives?
Do you think the rate of progression will become so insane that we'll continue on this path until something catastrophic happens?(Something like 2012, robots chasing us, nuclear war, or anything else intense)
I'm just wondering how other people view the situation we're in. I think either way we're living in a pretty interesting time. I don't see us slowing down until there's a total meltdown and the world shits the bed. I feel like we're going to keep progressing faster and faster to the point where things are progressing almost instantaneously. I feel the only way it will ever stop or even slow down the slightest bit will be if something crazy happens. It's one of those machines that once set in motion won't ever stop.
Is there a point where enough is enough and we should be content with where we are?
Should we keep going at all costs until we're flying around space on jet packs and other wild shit?
Where would you draw the line? And even if you have a line drawn in your mind, do you believe there's anyway to stop things at that point?
Just curious what peoples take is. The increases in technology alone are pretty fucking wild. To me the craziest part is the rate at which we move forward. If that keeps on the same pace of increase, we're in for some insane shit. At a certain point, every few years the earth is still kicking as is, there will be some radical changes. Night and day kind of shit. Sort of like life 25 years ago versus now. We can't even imagine living back then. What happens when changes that profound are happening every year, maybe even every day.
Just my $.02 and some questions I was curious about. Felt like it could be a pretty interesting discussion.
