Don't know what I want to do in/after college?

I love skiing and would rather be a ski bum then go to college, but I have to, well I'm forced. Specifically, I can not comprehend what I want to do i life, other than to ski. I 'm good enough to the point where if I tried and took chances I could make something out of skiing but I have no support. Plus even if I didn't go to school I would have to work with my farther eating chipotles everyday getting voluptuous. Skiing is a passion, plus I'm norwegian and, when your having fun making a living, naysayers vanish and risks are forgotten.

Do others feel remotely this way?

I understand and I am going to college just have to figure out what I want to do. And the vide above is interesting. concert piano player is something I may want to do, but that is also a hit and miss.

Nothing wrong with living at or below what the government calls the poverty line as long as you can pay the bills. I did that before I went to school and now that I'm about to graduate with a degree that I really enjoy, and hope to work in sooner than later, I'm psyched to get back into the same lifestyle for a bit.

It does feel nice to have all the skills that I learned in school though, and maybe a bit more confidence applying for more professional jobs with a degree.

When you're 18, though, nothing beats real world experience; though the college years were/are fuckin fiyah.

OK I am in your situation but a year ahead. I have been skiing for a year, came home, decided i that i dont want to go to college yet, so im going skiing again. I see no point in going to college when i do not want/ need to. You are still young. Just because all your friends are family are going doesn't mean you have to be ashamed of what you are doing. You are living life and having much more fun. While they are going from 16 years of regimented routine into another 4-6 years and then to work. Live life while you are young! you have plenty of time to do what is needed e.g. go to college, get a job.

I plan to go to college when i want to and not when society dictates that i should. I am definitely going to go to college. Even if i go to college and when im done realise that i still want to ski and do whatever in the skiing world at least if shit hits the fan then i will have something to fall back on. I plan to go and do a business and marketing degree which means that i have a pretty wide range of career options.

Related story: My literature teacher played bass in band for 10 years during the late 60s-70s traveling around the county. Then went to college when he was 30 and ended up getting his masters from Johns Hopkins, Lived/worked in the financial district in Boston, and now he is a teacher. so yeah...
