Just wrapped up my show reel MKII, i made a reel back in june for CTS and i got a lot more shots since then so i wanted to make a new, better one.

that was awesome. some things I noticed;

lots of great jump cuts, but I felt like some shots, such as the pan of the bay / cliffs should have been left in their entirety/ fewer cuts throughout. I realize maybe it wasn't the greatest pan though, so you could have done the cuts for reasons liket that.

try and take note of your shadow when filming, it wasn't SUPER distracting, but it definitely stood out in some of the slack-lining shots - maybe film from the other side?

all in all that was great though man, nice work!

yes the bay pan was done on a windy day hand held and it was not steady to say the least, but i kinda wanted an upbeat pace to it, idk im still kinda figuring out my editing methods, and i will definitely watch my shadow, kinda hard on some of the cliff spots, but again i know where your coming from

Some nice shots!

Overall, I would say:
Shorter, you can be more selective and have less shots, and an even stronger product
You got away from cutting to the beat, and missed it by just a couple seconds a few times. I feel like you could tighten up some of those cuts and keep the great flow you built.

I can do a more in depth critique later if you'd like

I enjoy your shots of grass, and forest, and those really fricken cool pollen particles or whatever. Overall very well done. I would trim out some of the skiing and some of the cliffs in order to make it shorter and only with the best of the best. I know its tough not to put shots your attached to, but the higher standards you have the better, not saying they all weren't good, it just could be tighter.

What I did not like was the font used in the intro. To me it took away from the crisp beauty of the nature shots in the intro and reminded me of pac man or something. Also right at like 16 or 17 seconds the transition, this is just personal but i really dont like those additive dissolves where it makes the whole screen bright white, I much prefer cross dissolves. But yeah... sick work man, I will be in Calgary for a week or two this winter break.

Looking back at it, maybe a different font would suit it better, but i was up at like 3am one morning making it saying " this is different".... And with the reel i dropped i thought it was too short, with this one i want to make it bigger, but i honestly had 160gb to choose from, so i just thought i should do more and add more.
and i am still working on how i edit and the transitions i use, but i will deffinetly think about the the transistions more next time!
