Is it just me or does Shea Flynn have the SICKest part, his song was dope and his tricks were so styley

So this is coming from someone who has been huge into ski movies for many years and is against the whole "skiing is gangster/inspired to the world" bullshit.
Stept films used to be like 4bi9 whereas they were over the top in terms of trying to be gangster/hood shit. It was a little ridiculous. The skiers and the talent was all time, but they needed to steer away from that aspect of skiing, which they finally did. These last two movies, and especially the 86, did exactly that and in the best way fucking possible. Level 1 has been doing it as well. Gearing more toward quality cinematography and music/vibes you can relate to and that capture the moment.
The 86 was the sickest movie of the year for sure, and I'm not even an urban skier. The music, flow, and everything else was fucking awesome.
And, wait for it...Shea Flynn's/Chowens segment was the sickest because it was the ONE (thankfully) thug seggy in the movie and it was actually refreshing and badass since they didnt over do it in the grand scheme of the movie layout. The beat was heavy and the shots were dope, making it a standout segment.

Either that shot or the "ender, ender" was pretty sick. The last shot, the back two, out of that absurdly gigantic rainbow feature was just bonkers. Clayton really wrecked shit last season.

I completely agree, I really liked this movie so I guess I'll write a lot haha

I personally love the thug side of skiing but hate when edits consist of white boys dressing in xxxxxxl sweatshirts flashing gang signs. I felt that they did an awesome job making skiing their main priority in the film while adding a little flair of gangster into the mix. The shots were great and the vibes you got from the clothing, song choice, and scenery gave it a true urban/thug appeal.

As for the best part.. I honestly can't pick one. i watched the movie a few times on the plane ride to and from Colorado and literally every shot is a banger. There were a couple that stood out to me, though. Cam's building drop from the rail was fucking insanity. I have no idea how he kept hitting that after wrecking himself so many times. Also Maks' and Sean's seggy was nicely put together and flowed well. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the water park segment where they made a huge deal of being busted on the stairs going up.. just seemed kinda corny. Still an insane movie and it goes down as one of my favorites and ranks up with Sunny for best of the year.

That was an absurd shot, but that spot has already been done. Someone front flipped that gap (didn't hit the rail) in a winch edit two or three years ago.

Pretty sick, but I wouldn't call the spot "done" b/c of that. He didn't hit the rail, and went way smaller off it than Cam.

This. I loved it all, and I've watched it at least 20 times. Seany J is probably my personal favourite but Clayton had the 'sickest/best' segment. He basically did the craziest shit at every spot. His remixed segment from Stept/PBP/TGR footy is up with the best urban parts ever, arguably the best ever.

everyone in this thread is high. The Travel segment was easily the best, the chimney choir song went so well with it from the car troubles they dealt with to mt baker and the trees of mt hood it was fucking awesome. anytime I want to watch a segment out of that movie its that one for sure.

after watching it 4 times in 2 days i still can't decide which is my favorite. i love chowens' style and sean j threw bangers with ease. maks' nollies are perfect and i don't even know it's too much. everyone held it down. the music really surprised me in a good way

im surprised no one has said this before...i totally agree. the whole intro scene with sean J walking up the ladder and shit is one shot, the shot never cuts it's just 1 fluid movement throughout. still wondering how they did this, maybe used a jib to film sean climbing the ladder?

Clayton was the one climbing the ladder. I'm pretty sure the whole thing was filmed by DeSena with a glidecam on a vest. I would think that they just used a scissor lift to follow Vila up the ladder

shit i meant clayton, my bad. and yeah i remember seeing 'glidecam operator" in the credits..i forget who they credited but your probably right. and could a scissor lift go fast enough? i feel like a tall jib would just work better..idk though

Shea Flynn for sure, and it helps he slayed my hometown! (shot where he wallrides down a yellowish building and lands on stairs)  It's the same spot that his interview picture on the homepage is from.  So stoked they hit up spots I see all the time, but bummed I missed 'em.

look at the shot again, the raising of the camera is actually pretty damn when it's playing realtime , the shot is just remapped well and it's not noticeably super slow
