Armada compared to lines

this year im stuck between the alpha 1 and the line chronic. I want a light ski that can also go in the mountain when i need it to. Has anyone transitioned from armada to line because i had last years ar7s so Im wondering should i try the chronics?

chronic gives you more width underfoot. you may appreciate that for all mountain purposes. they will be slightly heavier than the alphas, but still a very easy ski to ride with all the early rise.

I hear lines break easily due to weak edges. I have the new AR7's and love them, I ski mostly in the park but I also ski big mountain with them and they work well. Would definately reccomend them.

This is true, for all mountain purposes I'd probably pick the Chronic over the Alpha

chronics are very durable and do not break easily. I've owned a pair and put them thru hell for over 2 seasons. do not comment on a ski you haven't ridden.

I transitioned to Armada from line for park skis because I went thought 3 pairs of chronics in 2 months and that wasn't sustainable. Im not hating on Line at all, but the quality of their park skis is not on par with Armadas(for me at least). I have had my alpha 1s going on 2 seasons now and I have never had a park ski last as long before, except for my original 1260's which I keep safe.. If you are going to be riding solely park then I would say alpha 1s hands down but since you want something that can preform on the mountain too then I'd say chronics will treat you well. The alphas like to dive in any snow off piste thats deeper than 3 inches.

I have ridden lines before and definately preferred my armadas. Im just saying thats what i have heard and seen from friends who ride them and that I really like my armadas and would recommend them.

The chronics will hold up in any all mountain terrain, hard shitty show, to deep pow. In my experience the Alpha 1's are so sketchy unless used properly in the park or hauling on groomers.

What's the lighter ski, AR7 or 2013 Chronic? I know the Chronic is about 1,700 grams. But I have no idea what the AR7 weighs. I'm torn between the two.

do you think the weight is going to be that significant?  if so maybe you should go to the gym and work your lower half.

I don't know. Is it significant? That's what I'm asking. Both skis seem great, I'm really just looking for factors that could help my decision.

weight is really not that significant, unless your skiing on logs. If your skis do feel a little heavy, go to the gym and work your legs out. Now for you skis I would defiantly go with the chronics because of the early rise and a little more width under foot, this will for sure help out of the park. And from my knowledge (have not ridden them) chronics kill in the park.

Weight doesn't really matter. People become over-concerned about the weight of their skis. Be more concerned about the swing weight. If your local shop carries both skis, hold them at their midpoint and turn them 90 degrees each way... you'll get a better sense as to which one will feel lighter.

This question comes up frequently, as well as "I don't want heavy bindings".... As it turns out it really doesn't matter how heavy your bindings are, they literally have no influence on how your ski feels.
