Exactly. This isn't a fucking debate, its to honor the nearly 3,000 people that died and countless other people affected when this tragedy occurred. Watch the faces of the people during that video to get a reality check and understand the gravity of the situation

Since i know have the little twats in this thread are going to be too lazy to watch a 10 minute video of the towers going down skip to 3:11 to see the face of a guy that worked in tower 2. At 3:59 a woman hysterically shouts "another building just exploded"

That shit is raw..if you don't feel anything after watching those clips there is something wrong with you

Was my best friend who lost his dad too young to comprehend it? He is over it now, and he hates having to rehash this day over and over again. He wants it to be done with. He wants the victims to be remembered in peace, without being "exploited" as he puts it. Where were you that day? I remember seeing smoke billowing up from down the street. I was actually under attack. Do you fully comprehend it?

Maybe it was one of those things where you actually had to be there and have some connection to it.

The entire NATION was under attack, not just your stupid selfish ass. It was not an attack on one city it was an attack on the entire United States. I'm glad your friend is over it, I can't imagine how painful it must have (and still is) to deal with. He chooses to deal with 9/11 by getting over it, other people cope with this day by celebrating the people that were lost and the servicemen that fight for the country.

Every single person is going to deal with a tragedy of this magnitude a different way, quit being a fuckass and thinking the way you go about your day on September 11, 2012 is the right way and every needs to follow step like your some fucking pied piper

just because it hits you and your loved ones harder, and just because you might have a holier than thou experience with it, DOES NOT mean that others can't feel what they feel. they are who they are and they feel what they feel and you have no right to tell them they can't.

i'm sorry your friend has to rehash the day, it sadly comes with the territory a horrific thing to happen to OUR country. not yours. not his. it sucks. but you don't get to dictate how others should feel about it, or tell them they need to stop feeling that way.

Exactly, its history. History that we need to remember with such intensity so that the atrocity of 9/11 isnt forgotten. The only thing we can do now to console the family members of lost ones is to remember them. If people mourning a national tragedy pisses you off, then you should be ashamed to call yourself an American

Okay everyone. Im sorry if my other posts offended anyone or made me seem like a jackass but I'm not trying to diminish what happened on 9/11 or anything of the sort i just wanted to try to say that I personally think we have done a lot of reflecting on this and we can still care and feel for the victims without dwelling on it like we have been doing the past 10 years. Maybe i have a biased because of my friend and thats what he has been telling me he wants but he's too afraid/uncomfortable to communicate that to most people. Every time you pick at a scab it starts bleeding again. If you leave it alone it will heal on its own.

Thats all I really meant to say.

I think everyone understood, or perhaps I should say overstood your opinion on the matter.

It's a tough nut to crack, still a hot potato for many in your nation, not so much around the world, but to hear that those very closely affected to the event, even ones who lost their family and friends really want people to just stop glamoring about it years on end, even if it is to remember or to celebrate those who were killed or died as heroes, don't some of you think that maybe there's a point to that strategy and one point is to let it go? Move on, get on with your life.

It's one day of great reliefs for those whose loved ones made it out and of huge grief for those who were lost. You were struck as a nation, but for how long will this remembrance go on, or how long should it go on? I think that's the main question, especially for those who were not directly involved or in pre-school at the time.

There are terrorist strikes, deaths, accidents etc. all over the world each and every day, and their victims' loved ones mourn as well, but due to the non-gigantincness or un-media sexiness of those situations, crises and events, they are often forgotten by the world in the blink of an eye. "Oh, that's normal over there." That is a no-bullshit common reaction to terrorist acts in anywhere else in the world if it doesn't happen in any Western country. It's just something to chew on, concerning last year's horrible Norwegian massacre put on by one person and the comparatively small and un-patriotic/nationalistic approach to the event by the Norwegian/European mass media, it hasn't been blown out of proportion nor forgotten in the winds gone by.

To each his own, mourn, sorrow, remember the good times if you will, but look at the big picture and what this event has cost your country, the world and the people most closely affected by it before opening your mouth one way or the other.

I just don't get it. If you really want to honor the people who died, fuck your facebook, fuck your twitter, fuck your flag, go out there and make some positive changes in the world. That never forget bumper sticker isn't going to help save your country.

I'm not trying to hate on people for caring, it just seems like a slap in the face to people who died. Somebody who supposedly cares about them yet has done absolutely nothing positive in their memory and has watched our country go further down the shitter.

Half the people posting a status today are just doing it for other to see that they posted it, not because of how they feel.

If you really care you should at least try to do something. Better yourself as a person or help to better your country by first getting informed, then making informed decisions when you vote. Don't you think they'd rather have you help to turn America back around into a truly great country instead of simply posting a tweet or facebook status?


Idk. That's just how I feel about the whole thing.

just because some piss ant kid of NS had a buddy that had a family member killed in the 9/11 attacks and wants the world to stop bringing up this tragedy a little after a decade it happened doesn't mean its the be all end all for how 9/11 should be remembered ..there are literally tens of millions of other people who were affected from this attack and want to remember it by talking about it and bringing it to the national spot light

I will always remember that terrible day. It was a very shocking and quit possibly, the most disturbing day most Americans have ever lived.
I was working on a house that day and the homeowner called me into there house to see something that I must see on T.V. The rest of that day, and week were very somber.
Prayers to anyone who was directly affected by 9/11.

Yes we may have gotten Bin Laden but he was just one high class target of many. It is their religion that everyone else is an infidel and their interpretation of what to do with infidels is to get rid of them. if we did not go to the middle east and just let this fly then other events would have happened on our own soil. if you believe that people say "9/11 always in our hearts" just to look good then fuck you. my cousin died on flight 93 and is never coming back. it was all due to the fact that a group of people are following their extreme religion. Do you just leave those crazy fucks just keep killing or do you do something about it?

Yes us being their did die. but more damage was done when Saddam Hussein committed mass genocide on his own people just to put fear into the others.

Who is closest to those extremists and is also a major ally to us? Isreal is. we support them by training their troops to protect their people since they are considered infidels.

This. This is what I have been trying to say.

You should care but care personally and intraspectively. To post something on facebook that is an exact copy of what innumerable others are saying seems ingenuine. Call your loved ones and tell them that you love them. Take a moment to reflect on the events, mourne for those who died, and think about the future. Begin or continue the process of dealing wtih the emotions you have and of forgiving. However, the point is to do all of this genuinely. A significant amount of the 9/11 posts are cut and paste things that people put up so that it looks like they care or are thinking about it, and some of them are, but for some, especially those who really had no experience with it, its like a public image thing. They have to put up that status to maintain the illusion of someone who cares, however, once they post that they dont think about it anymore. Again, I think the point is genuineness. Most people who really care a lot dont feel the need to post something online because they are expressing their grief and other emotions in a more private, engaged way.

It's all about the obligatory posts these days. They don't actually care. They just want people to know that they care. Hell maybe it actually makes them feel like they did care. It's just annoying as fuck after a while.

i was in 6th grade, and i live about 15 min from NYC, my uncle worked in the city, but for some reason that day he woke up late and missed his train into the city, he lived in Hoboken at the time which is right across the hudson, i was freaking out because i didnt know if he was in the city or not. Then we had a bomb scare at my school,and we got evactuated and we all went outside kids crying everywhere becuase many people who live in my town have parents who commute to the city, some ppl lost a family member in my town. I first heard about it after homeroom walking to my 1st period class and i was so confused, then all of a sudden i heard about the second tower and it was so crazy. I remember about every detail of that day, i am almost 23 years old now and ill never forget it

These are the stories that should be remembered today. I never knew about this but its really amazing to think that something like this could have been organized so quickly. Like they said in the video, People did what they knew they needed to do. Its amazing to hear a story like this. Everybody should watch this video.

Gonna go out on a limb and say youre not from ny.  You should have come with me to work today in NYC and said that and see what happened.

I could see how if your from outside the area its a little different, but when you had family who worked there/use to work there, knew firefighters who were there, had neighbors who worked in the buildings its a little different.

People were scared, pissed off, and saying the first thing that came to their mind. These posts were made minutes after the towers were hit. There were also people blaming Bush because he was in Florida at the time, saying that if he was in Washington we could have prepared for/prevented it. It's pretty interesting to read.

We became united against terrorism. Sure we are divided on A LOT of issues. But at the end of the day we are all American and 11 years ago Americans came together and did everything they could to help those who needed it most.
