Utah Season Pass Advice

YoNS Does anyone know of a pass you can get which covers some or all these resorts? PC canyons snowbird brighton alta solitude canyons?? Just thinking I a way round buying a PC season pass then paying for day tickets at tHe other resorts. Any advice on cheap deals if you buy now?

Are you in school? what is your age? what are you trying to ski?

PC + something else is ideal. PC + brighton is fun, + snowbird or alta is fun. I would not recommend canyons or solitude.

Hi mate,

I wish it was for me... I am actually asking for a friend who is heading out for the winter. I left Park City in 2007 and I expect that things have changed a bit. I have told her to get a PC season pass, but I heard there was something out there that Ski Utah did that covered a wide range of resorts.

I think she would be most stoked on PC + brighton, this would mean two season passes right?

she isn't in school and 26 so the student passes are out!

I ski Canyons but the job I have provides me with free passes to Park City, Deer Valley, and Snowbird. I know that you can also buy a yeti pass, which is a pass to every resort in Utah for like a few days each.  It's a lot cheaper I know than buying day passes.

There is a Deep Powder Pass that should have went on sale this week at REI.  It is $1800 for 30 days each at Alta, Snowbird, Solitude and Brighton.  There is also the Ski Utah silver or gold pass.  Silver is $2500 for 30 days at every Utah resort.  Gold is $3500 I believe for 50 days at every resort but it is transferable.  I believe the Deep Powder Pass is transferable as well. 

I was contemplating getting either the Deep Powder Pass or the Silver Pass this season,  but I don't think I could ski only 30 days at Snowbird.

Your friend can probably get a Deep Powder Pass still, but it sounds like they want to ski at PC so that wont do her much good.  I put my name on the waiting list for the silver pass last winter and have not been contacted about it yet.  I'm assuming I will hear something from them in the next month.  All of these passes sell out very quickly though and there are a very limited number of them.

While I will agree that Canyons should drink battery acid for breakfast, I would love a Solitude pass.  Weekend pow days there are amazing compared to LCC.  We skied there one day last year when LCC didn't open until 1 PM and Snowbird didn't start spinning lifts until 2.  We were on a lift with no line at Solitude at 9 AM.

I don't see why people hate on Canyons so much. I've ski'd every resort in Utah and I honestly have the most fun at the Canyons. While I agree that they have made some poor decisions in the past few years, I think that they have some really good powder skiing. Much better than PCMR and they have a decent park. It's also the biggest resort in Utah by a lot and some years it has the cheapest pass.

no.. just no. Canyons has an average park, and a below average mountain in terms of terrain. Who cares if its huge if 90% of it is shitty groomers. It also doesn't get nearly as much snow as the cottonwoods, and is busy as shit. 9990 is a pretty sick lift, but everyone knows that and it gets tracked out in the first half hour. I honestly like brightons park more than canyons, plus it has wayyy better terrain/vibe/lines/everything.

Brighton's park is kinda a joke well at least the jumps are. I only skied one season there, and I LOVE Brighton, but it's nothing too impressive considering the choices you have in UT. They do have a great rail selection though and it's a fun lap from top to bottom I was just very unimpressed with the sizes of the jumps.

Brighton is still my #1 all around mtn though!

yeah canyons sucks. they never get any snow and its only groomers.



^this was on a day when both cottonwood canyons were closed. it doesnt have as many gnar lines that you can lap from the lift as snowbird or alta but there are some really fun shots and good bc access. everyone that skis there sucks so it doesnt get tracked out. everyone has there own opinion on where to ski, but canyons definitely isn't shitty, plus they are moving their park back to the old spot so the jumps will be hit-able.

I shred canyons its awesome. 9990 does always get tracked on pow days but thats why you gotta get to know the mountain and all the sweet spots. Ive skied there for a while and it definately has great pow. Not as good as the bird or alta but its still awesome!

this. And aslso they are gonna have 2 terrain parks next year which is definitely going to make it a whole bunch better than it was last year and the park will circulate more as it wont be as crowded.

Oh, their new parks, hahaha. Good luck with where they are at. Back to where they were years ago, and it will be worse.

If we're going to argue shitty groomers, Canyons grooms hardly any runs and it isn't nearly as crowded as PCMR and Deer Valley doesn't have a park. I live in Park City and I'm sure as shit not driving into the cottonwoods 4 times a week to ski. So I guess it should depend a lot on where you live, especially if you ski a lot.

thats pretty 2009 dude.  the jumps aren't going to be 70 ft but they are now fairly well built. 
the canyons jumps are more dangerous/ not as fun.  if you want solid jumping- big, varied, and lots of it your best bet is pc.  but brighton is totally sufficient for just fun park laps. ever since cayons put their park on one trail its been garbage. 
 
The terrain and snowfall at brighton, bird, alta blows pc and canyons out of the water. 
and fuck talisker so fuck canyons.
