Vail vs Breck?

So my family decided this winter we are taking a vacation to Dillon Colorado. I looked it up and its not terribly far form either Vail or Breck. My question is which one actually has better skiing. My parents could care less because they just stay on the bunny hill most of the day and my sister thinks "Skiing is pointless" so NS I ask you where should I be skiing? Keep in mind I ski BC more than anything but I'm also not opposed to taking a few laps in the park. My family doesn't really eat out a lot (My Dad is the executive chef for a local seafood restaurant and I'm in culinary school) So restaurant selection isn't really that important to me. Night life and things to do during the day are somewhat important because my family unlike me will not want to ski every day. I plan to ski both resorts but which one should I plan on spending the most time at

i live in dillon. Keystones 5 minutes, breck is 20 minutes, copper is 20 minutes, and vail is 40 or something minutes

Are you asking which has better side country type access or which resort has better inbounds terrain? The back bowls of vail are huge, and you can usually find powder after a storm if you look in the right places. The terrain there is mostly not that steep, and I would say that breck has some better steep areas like lake chutes and e-chair. Breck's park is on another level from vail's park, but vail's park isn't bad and is usually fairly empty. If I could only ski 1 of the 2, it would be a hard choice but I would probably go with breckenridge.

OP, are you talking about skiing sidecountry or skiing inbounds terrain?

Side country or BC if it's there. I'm used to hiking at my home mountain to get to the good stuff

Oh, I see. I'd say you should go to vail then, but you'll have a great time either way.

I plan on going to both resort and I might swing by keystone. I just want to know which mountain I should be looking to spend more time at. Thanks everyone for the advice k+ given. this thread can die now.

Go val and hit a lil park at Key and Breck, also try Beaver and A-Bay if you have an epic pass.

Vail hands down. Being the largest resort in the US, theres no reason to try and get into the sidecountry there. There's plenty of terrain in bounds. Their park is pretty decent when the park crew isnt too high to maintain it. Plus, the sidecountry isnt all that safe around Vail, really avalanche prone and easy to get above some dangerous stuff if you don't know where you're going.

Vail has some sick sidecountry, especially when there's nice fresh pow. I suggest you go check it out once or twice depending how long you stay...

But Breck's park is pretty sick and you can still manage to find some sick pow. Also, the nightlife there is pretty awesome. PLUS, the shuttlebusses are free and you can go anywhere in town (keep in mind last time I went was 2 years ago, so things could have changed)

ive only been on a 2 week hol and stayed in breck, but i skied vail, beaver creek and would say the park at breck is by far the best, though it was a lot busier, but u can learn a bit from just watching the others! i cudnt really get into the bowls at vail because of avalanche risk, so wasnt overly impressed with vail as i found the runs a bit too 'cruisey'

id def recommend going to the woodward barn at copper, jumping into the foam pit and working on the trampolines helps the novice/improving parkrat like myself :-)

Buses in vail are free too and Vail has nicer terrain and more of it.

IMO Vail is much better. You have a pretty sick park that has big enough features, no 70 footers, but still more than enough jumps (from small to like 60 ft) and pipes(18 and 14) as well as an array of jibs in a few parks. The parks are empty and underrated so they are great to lap.

Vail's sidecountry is so sick and the town is much nicer than Breck IMO, but maybe more expensive. I think Breck is pricey too though.
