NS car people need some help (VW jetta 2004 5 speed)

Ok so i have a 2004 vw jetta with the 2.0 engine and a 5 speed. Has 107k on it. Replaced water pump, timing belt, etc all major parts that needed to be.

Lately, while I am in neutral, i been hearing a jingling noise. The noise comes back every time i step on the clutch to change gears or am just chilling at a light.

Anyone know what it might be? Really hoping i can fix it myself. I took it in to the shop a while back and they told me its a clamp that jingles and its normal....any other vw people out there have similar problems?

No but I know my 2004 vr6 makes a whining noise i third gear and even the vw people said they didnt really know what it is. Sometimes v dubs just make weird noises that aren't even bad but you'll end up spending big bucks to see what it is. I would honestly take it to your local mechanic and have him drive/look it over.

oh and it makes the same noise when I push the clutch in, in third gear. the vw guy said to not worry about it. Not the best answer but I haven't had any problems so far.

yea my car feels like it run greats...shifts pretty well had some major work done to it recently so it should be in good working order.

My 3 gear is by far my worst gear. Just feels weird sometimes, makes some weird noises as well but runs fine.

Yup, its just vw's. All gears including third shift fine, clutch is still great and the car has 150,XXX on it. The last owner was a vw guy and babied it so I got a feeling that its going to run for a while.

alright thanks for the answers.....did some research online and apparently its kinda common.... supposedly a clamp that commonly becomes a little loose on the exhaust system

i dont have a VW but I have this problem on my 01 Integra, obviously it's not a huge problem or something to really worry about, it can just be annoying as shit sometimes

When you push in the clutch does it idle a little bit hard? Like do you notice a small drop in rpms?

if you changed the timing belt yourself my only guess could be that the timing between the camshaft and crankshaft isnt perfect, but if htat was the case everything else should be fucked up as well
