those things are SKETCH. my friend has a pair that she takes out for Dirtbag Day. ive tried them on just a small hill. wouldnt dream of taking them up the lift. its hilarious when yer in the lift line. looks like yer just in boots

Ill admit I had a pair of sled dogs back in the day in the Poconos in Pa. My first run I must have fallen and gotten up while going down a full run probably 15-20 times. But all the while in the process I kept on moving -fast because it was icy as hell. Somehow I managed to stay in complete control while falling. I still thought it was awesome regardless of how reckless and dangerous it was. Maybe thats why I have such good balance today? Haha, I remember trying to do 540s on them in my yard and almost dieing completely. I wonder how many attempted lawsuits they had.....they are actually more fun on flatter terrain in areas that always have a ton of snow just for like getting around. Like xc skis that you can transport easier. I bet they would make sense in areas like alaska and parts of canada, they are heavy as shit though.

My home mountain in NY still rents these things out and kids absolutely love them! They are insanely dumb, but they are rented out daily, so crazy... May have to grab a pair for gaper day before I head back to CO!

I've used them before, you can rent them at my mountain for like 14 bucks a day. Hitting jumps with them is next to impossible. You can't get enough speed and you landing would be hell. Rails are fun though.

We noticed a lot of people going to the Forest City Surplus website looking for the snow skates from this forum.  From the log files it looks like when everyone visited on the website they were set to sold sold out as they were in storage.  On seeing this in the log files yesterday evening we we're so excited that we brought over from storage all of the snow skates we had (approximately 35 pairs in different sizes).  Our older model snow skates are about 1/9th the price of the new 2012 models.

No dude, that 50Km/h tops. Its physically impossible to reach those speeds with such a small board. Every skateboarder will remember the famous speed wobble on a park board. Same happens on skis, at higher speeds, lateral stability is reduced and the board will gain energy and release it quickly. At a point the human body cant keep up with the exponential rate of swing and enter the death wobble. Once again same applies to longboards, they are long to absorb lateral stability and distributes it over the board. The increased in length tenses the board and spreads the forces much more equally.

The high speed on small surface area leads to aeroplaning. You end up with such little contact with the snow that control is impossible over 20km/h. Take bike tires and car tires, you can do something with your car in snow, but not with a bike.

3. Acceleration is shit. really. You need 4 times more work to get across flat surfaces. Skis uses board tension to increase efficiency in skating. Also, skis have edges to help grip to the snow in skating. Dont let me mention a little powder.

Please dude, follow advice when you hear it: Give up on that stupid idea, it will never take off. People will not invest in that. There are far better sports like snowdogs, but much safe and more versatile.

-Plug your own product
-dig up a three year old thread
-Just be so wrong about the whole product
Longer allows for more speed... think race skis (pressure and weight distribution related to drag, less snow surface penetration = less drag from the snow), and racing sailboats (1.34 x sqrt[LWL] and all that)
And thinner skis are faster- less drag

And I clicked the youtube link.... Inline snowskates? You fuckers have to be some dumbass, making-these-in-your-mom's-basement-to-pay-for-meth motherfuckers. Inline comes from rollerblading, and you are trying to connect your POS product to that. I get it. But inline refers to the wheels on agressive, new-style rollerblades, as opposed to the old-time girl type rollerskates. There ain't no wheels to be inline, hoss! I seriously hope everyone at your company uses condoms... This kind of stupidity should not pass on its genes.
