Does anyone have Armada el reys or know someone who does?
I am looking at purchasing these skis and hoping to get some advice on how they do. Hoping to do a lot in the park and some all mountain. I do a lot of jumps and am hoping to do some more rails this season. I cosider myself as a strong intermediate to advanced skier.
i know a guy who has some, and he uses them for both park and pow, he has had them for 2 seasons so far and they look like they are perfectly fine, here is a video of him skiing pow with them (its a few seasons old now)
he also has lots of other videos of him using them for park in his channel
a guy i met at my local mountain had them, he told me they ski great all around and they'll hold their own in pow although i personally wouldn't ride these in deep pow, moderate maybe
The el rey will be great for what you want. Park with allmnt. A really good intermediate ski. It would kill it in SD, as well as CO, WY, and MT if you came farther out for a trip. Obviously if you want something for deep powder, go fatter.
If you give Size and weight we can give recommendations for which size.
im young and growing but now i am bout 130 lbs and bout 5' 6.5'' I also do a lot of skiing at big sky, Bridger bowl, vail and am going on a trip to Squaw Valley in CA.
171cm el rey will fit you great. If your hitting park/ allmnt this ski will kill it for you. If your planning to hit some deep powder, maybe on trips demo some pow skis to see what you like on the pow department. Not saying you couldn't hit pow on el reys, but takes practice and effort. If there is more than 8inchs of fresh stuff I say try some pow skis.
Other than deep pow and chop, the el rey will slay everything. As far as a binding, I posted some stuff on your other thread.
I have found this pair of skis for a much lower price than i have seen on other sites but they are sold out of 171. Do you think the 165 will work fine?
I pulled these off google shopping so they should be legit sites, but as always call them up and ask them questions to see if there legit. Never a bad idea to double check.
And I say really try to get the 171. It will last way longer that way. The 165 you'll out grow in a season. At your growth the 171 should last at least 2 or 3.
I just bought this ski because it was 150 at my local shop for last years model and i had some extra cash to spend, I had the 08s also and they were amazing for the price, super low swing weight great on rails and bigger features and when you're just hitting the groomers it rides like no other park oriented ski. i was so shocked then when I saw the deal at the shop I just had to get them, even tho they are technically 'entry level' but i couldn't resist. Cant wait to ride em this year! Only negitive thing is the stiffness which will make it hard to butter but I actually liked the stiffnes because it gives you a more solid landing platform on bigger features. Hope this helped!
Look pc12jibs are great. A little heavier but they won't blow apart on you. And weight in a binding is really overrated... It's swing weight that is most important imo
