I have a the 171 4frnt msp, and I'm a bit worried they're too short. I'm about 6'0 and 130lbs and I would say that I'm an advanced skier. Do you think these skis are too short?
personally if i was your height i would say those are too small. they will have a slight advantage in the park because they will be lighter and you will be able to spin faster with less swing weight. still too small. what type of ski are they?
it's all about personal preference. I'm 5'10" and ride around a 171 depending on the ski in the park and when I go out to the pow I take a bigger ski usually around 180-185. So i'd say they are a bit small for you.
This. I am 5'11 140 ish. And loved my 169 k2 dissorderlies(actuall length is like 174 I think). But I just loved how you could whip them around so easy. Can't say anything on being on larger skis, like 180's though because my biggest ski is a 178.
I was around 6'1'' this past winter and i rode 171 line anthems trying to sneak in another year on them after i had grown 5 inches from when i bought them. They were great for jibs but i was never able to do more than a 5 and hit a jump bigger than 30 ft. i'd recommend selling them on here or at your local ski swap and trying to snag a pair of last years skis in a little larger size. 179-182 would be perfect
You can probably get away with it for now. They will be pretty small, but you can definitely manage on them. You'll want to bump up to the 181 for your next pair.
I'm 6'1/175 and even my 178s feel tiny now, especially in the air. Think I'm going with some 184 Chronics this season. My first pair of skis were some 171 AR6's when I didn't know any better, and the last time I tried to get on them they literally felt like ski blades.
Even though you are tall and the skis a bit short, because of your weight being less it will not be as bad. If you don't want to spend the extra money to pick up a larger pair you will most likely be fine with the skis you have. As an intermediate skier you will not need as large of a ski that you would want for the Huge jumps until you improve some.
