My School Sucks, Grade 13

So last year in the last 2 months i contracted severe mono and strep throat, and wound up in the hospital for about 3 weeks, and was out of school for about 2 and a half months. This caused me to be kicked out of all of my classes. So i did not graduate. The school wouldn't let me finish any of the courses, and so now i am forced into another year of highschool. What should I do?

you're allowed 4 tardy's a quarter then you get a 5 o clock detention

The exact same thing happened to me in 10th grade and last year- I wound up with really bad tonsillitis and then an abscess in my throat which led to hospitalization the first time and then dental surgery the second. I missed over 2 months of school both times but thankfully I was able to catch up with my work and stuff and continue on like nothing happened. I am sorry to hear you weren't so lucky :(

thanks ya it was really just the timing of it all, being the last 3 months of school and missing most of that really didn't help, along with it being senior year and everything. I was in some pretty heavy work load classes too so it was really overwhelming after being that sick.

On the good side i manned up enough to go to safe grad and had a swell old time there.

A friend of mine had to get knee surgery last spring which made him ineligible for his Navy scholarship because he wouldn't have been able to do the physical training so instead of starting college this year he's starting his 5th year of high school as some boarding school in New York I think.

So you're not the only one but that still majorly blows. And for that, I am sorry.

I have a friend that spent the second half of his Jr year and the first half of his Sr year on hydrocodones due to a broken sternum that took forever to heal. He could do about 20 minutes of work every 4 hours before the pain was too much. Luckily all the teachers were pretty chill and let him turn in all his work as late as he needed. He was turning in essays from 11th grade almost a year late. He got into UW though. It was fun to watch when a teacher would ask him something, and they had to wait patiently while he gathered his thoughts enough to ask them to repeat themselves.
