first thing that struck me was the complete lack of movement. Because every shot was static, it got a little boring to watch, if you had stuck some moving shots or even just a few pans or something in, i think it would have really varied the piece up and made it easier to watch.

Good but just make sure you are using a dslr with an intervalometer

Looks pretty good! i would try to have some different kinds of shots rather than just still throughout the whole thing. Only other thing i can think of is the music was almostttt depressing

and yeah cheers guys, this was literally the day after i got my 7d, haha i was flipping through the instruction manual that morning. it was a while ago but i only just got around to putting it together

I agree. I liked the video, and it was pretty good for your first one. If you do another video with a similar vibe to it, throw in some slow pans or something to change it up -- I think it would work really well with the pace of the video. Of course, you'll probably want a proper video tripod head if you don't have one already.

yeah thanks will definately add some movement, i knew it was lacking from the start but it was a family trip and the only tripod i had was some heaps big and heavy one, so i took one of those little bendy ones.. couldnt really move it without it falling over.

I think it would have worked better if it was half as long. a lot of repetitive shots. also I wasn't sure what to think about the switching back and forth between the lighthouse and the ocean as much as you did especially with how similar some of the shots were to each other. some of the shots looked over exposed. get a polarizing filter if you don't have one yet.

another thing, some of the shots were much better than others. my advice would be: make it half as long and be more selective with your shot choices and pick the best composition/exposed ones.
