Hey guys i didn't see this as a repost but I am going to ge a new camera today I want either a canon t2i or the t3i or the Nikon d3100 I've one my research they are very similar dslrs but I want to film and take photos so I think I'm going to go with the Nikon d3100 with an 18-55 lense, wondering if anybody films with one of these Nikon d3100 and just seeing how they were, any help would be much appreciated.
Bumps +k
Major help. + k and feedback for being legit
Thanks
For video I'm pretty sure the t2i buts the nikon to bed, last I heard the nikon doesn't have manual video (which you NEED if you plan on doing video) and doesn't shoot at 60fps. And the Canon has the capabilities to be hacked with magic Lantern which gives it sick video options as well as iso's at multiples of 160 as well as 100. But I could be mistaken about the nikon's video (pretty sure I'm not). I was in the exact same position as you and I went with canon simply because I absolutely hated the menus of the nikon, and, in the end am much happier that I went with the canon. Just go to a camera shop, navigate through the camera, and see which one feels better in your mind.
Definitely a t2i. I have a nikon (its my moms) and I use that and it does have manual video and the video quality is 720p, but it does not have 60fps or 1080p. For video I would stick with canon (7d if you can afford it otherwise t2i is your best option)
Your mom has a d3000 then, not a d3100. I have a d3100 and it definitely shoots video in 1080p. OP, you cant really go wrong with any of the above cameras, youll be happy any way you go. Its just a matter of do you want to be a Nikon or Canon fanboy?
I have a d3100 and its an awesome first dlsr. the video is 1080 but doesnt shoot at 60 fps which is a def downside to the t2i. This whole edit was filmed with the d3100 except for a few shots that are GoPro2. If you want some pictures I have some as well I can show you
