Thoughts on Rossignol Axial2 140?

I am in the market for bindings for my 186 Filthy Riches. What are your thoughts on these bindings? I understand that they are plastic, but will this be that big of an issue? For reference, I ski 100% park in Minnesota. I ski a lot of rails with some jumps (biggest are only like 40 feet.) I am 165ish pounds and 6 feet tall.

they are amazing bindings in my opinion, i had a pair and they are still going strong after like 5 seasons

I think the question you need to ask yourself is "do I need a 14 din?" If your setting your binding at 10 a Axial 12 will be just as good. If your worried about durability you could go to the STH steel driver 12. It's just as good as the Axial 12 but a little more burly from the metal.

I'm 175lbs 5'9'' and the Look PX 12(rossi Axial 12) works great on my AR7. Then again I never hit stuff over 25ft. my din is set at 10. 
You might be going to Hyland hills and hitting the biggest Booter they got (not sure how big HH is building them these days) and need your dins cranked to 12.
That would be well worth the justification of a 14 din binding. 

On a side note hopefully buck hill opens early November. Then I can ski there before I head west for the season. I Haven't skied Buck hill in 8 years. I've heard it's getting better.

I did consider what you said about 14 din bindings already. However, I am responsible with what my din is at ( I planned to have it at 8, maybe 9 later on if I need it.) I thought it would be more safe to go with a 14 since I won't be getting any smaller and higher din bindings are usually more durable.

That being said, I feel that a 12 din could still be an option. I'm also considering at PX 12 jib; it's cheaper and I've heard it's good. I think it could work because I'm really not much of a jump guy. Buck's jumps usually suck and it's not even worth it. The PX 12s are starting to sound like a more solid of an option to me.

By the way, Buck's actually my home hill! I think you should definitely check it out. It usually opens the week before Thanksgiving. They stepped their game up last year big time. It still has some problems, but it's better for sure. If you do decide to go, PM me!

@III.JVD.III: Really solid review. I learned a lot from it, I think the PX 12s might just be what I will go with.

A long, long time ago back in the mid 90s I started going to Buck. Thats were skiing started for me but also where skiing died for me a little while.

Buck hill park scene in early 2000 was over ran by Douche bag rich snowboard poser kids who liked to sit a top the park smoke cigarettes and weed. Every once a while when someone actually went to hit a feature ( if they had any up) the Dbags would just cut them off then harass them the whole way back to the lift.
In 9th grade I was sick of it and didn't want to wear spandex so I rode like twice a year. Really wish I kept skiing but didn't want to deal all the BS.

Its been now 8 years now since riding there and I want to go back. I'll deftly hit you up if I get the chance to ride there Caucasian.

I have them on my alpha 1's and really like them. My only complaint would be that they are a little bit heavy but they are also very durable so it does not bother me at all.

It's come a long way for sure. It sucks that it used to be like that. Luckily it's nothing like that now.

Does anybody have any input on the PX 12 jibs vs. the normal PX 12s? The jibs look pretty plasticy, imo.

Considering you only ride on 8-9 I would just get a set of STH 12 Drivers. I used to have Axials and they good, but heavy and no where near as good a boot hold as the driver. The driver is so good as it uses a toe which you can dial in the width and height. The STH 12 and 14 are the exact same construction so there is no need to go for the 14. 8 will also be right in the center of the Din range so really it will be spot on for you.

I rode the px 12s last year and was really unimpressed. Everyone says they're good but I had nothing but problems. But the reason they didn't work is because I had some really hard sideways landings trying rodeos and that busted them up. Before they broke they were pretty nice though.

They just look so plasticy imo. That's what really worries me about those.

No they wont. The 140s have a metal bracket on the heal track holding it together, the 120s do not. The 140s are better bindings.

The jibs just have a rubber cushion under the heal and toe plates. Its like the worlds smallest riser. It doesnt make the bindings any different.

Both bindings have the same amount of plastic, because they are the same.

El barto is a man of reason...i have seen many of torqued and twisted heel tracks. Get the 14...i would go for the toe piece w/o the spring loaded afd. idk which model that is... i have some 15 din race versions, they bomb.
