i wouldnt say its addictin. Its not addicting like coke... But thats not to say people dont crave it. I dont smoke oftan, but every now and then i get a craving to, and i can taste it in my mouth, it doenst mean that i go and smoke some weed though. i just ignor it.

ITS NOT ADDICTING PEOPLE... the human ways show it to be addicting because most people do not have the will power nor the intelligence to stop. just like smoking cig's.

i smoked for over a year 1 pack a day and i quit on a dime, no problems. its being able to control the drug that makes you aa responsible user.

most people dont have the ability to control their actions so they abuse the drug, when in fact if you would just get a grip on things a realize the its your body and you have control, we shouldnt have any problems.

why would you let a drug be addicting? nothing addicting except LOVE... anyhting else is just a mental issue.

so balls up and be the man, control your usage and stay in control.

right, so all the poepl who have chemical dependencies on other drugs can just stop any time they want? with out suffering sever sideaffects? sometimes evn death? its a complete lie to say 'there is no such thing as an addiction' because there most deffinatly is. Alcoholics are addicted to alcohol. With out it in their system they can not function normaly, they be come irradit, violent, non coherent... they cant just stop takeing it.

I try and limit myself by smoking herb only on fridays and the weekends. That way it doesnt get outa hand and i dont waste all my money on it. I agree it's not phyically addictive but definatly can be mentally.

They say it is mentally addictive because people who use it on a regular basis tend to model a portion (an hour, mabe more/less) of their days around smoking. The best thing to compare it to I believe is jerking off(although it may not be an enlightening experience). It makes you feel good and it really doesn't hurt anyone so why is it a bad thing. People who can not stop generally have modeled so much of their lives around smoking that without it they have nothing to do. All of their friends smoke and much of their time is spent getting, growing,smoking etc...This is not to say that this is the majority of smokers(weed). I smoked 2-3 times a day, but got in trouble with the law/school and decided that the judicial consequences set up by out government were not worth the amount of pleasre I was getting from it and stopped that day. Physical addiction comes into play when the chemical make up of your brain/body becomes dependent on a chemical. THC is not addicting in this way like herion, and cocaine.

Yeah people can get addicted to the feeling but there are no chemically addicting properties in weed like there are in cigarettes or heroin. Like the guy said above, if you can get addicted to jerking off you can get addicted to weed in the same way. But stopping is never a problem, I could smoke everyday for a year then quit the next day with no problem.

I dont think jerking off is as bad for you as smoking weed, let alone as expensive. I smoked weed for about 6 years (consistently) and theres a big life change when you stop smoking. No, you don't go through withdrawls but yeah you think about it all the time.

actually, weed is mentally addictive, many people think they cannot sleep unless they've smoked. While they do have problems falling asleep (making them think its a physical addiction), its not the lack of a drug that prevents it, it is their mind not letting them sleep. Many people feel that they cannot ''survive'' the day without smoking (another mental addiction) as well. It is not physically addicting were was it will cause physical cravings (like cigs which are both physically and mentally addictive - nicotine addiction does cause physical cravings, and heroin - which is physically addictive and has to do with a chemical balance in your brain).

There have been some studies trying to prove that the tar from smoking weed can be physically addictive, but nothing conclusive has been figured out. The biggest reason people smoke is they like the feeling of being high and want to experience it more and more, while they may feel addicted physically, the biggest difference is no matter how much they smoke, if they quit, they will not go through a detox period as with some many other substances (sometimes herion addicts will die because there is no longer enough of the affected chemical in their brain, hence Methadone treatment, and many addicts will get violent shakes/tremors while herion, alcohol, and a variety of other substances detox out of their bodies).

d-loc. there's a difference between addiction and addicting. Just because you can quit something doesn't mean it's not addicting. or even that you had an addiction. you were addicted to cigs, you had cravings right? that's the addiction. but now that you stopped you're not addicted anymore.

I have a friend who's parents have always smoked weed, he doesn't remember the first joint he smoked because it was so long ago and so irrelevant. now every 2 weeks he trys to quit, but with the brownies his parents give him and free weed from them he can't. after 3 days of quitting he flips off the handle at anyone and everything. He gets stomache aches and is always stressed. For him the mental addiction is so strong that his mind is convinced he can't live without weed.

fuck i smoked dro for a year straight everyday all day and quit. fuck i quit for a month for my drug test, and i DID NOT HAVE ANY URGE TO START BACK UP. i actually FROWNED upon starting again. i didnt have th drive. but sure once i took the rip i was back in action wanting to smoke.

but dude seriously, if you cant control ur craving you shouldnt be doing the drug.

sure ive tried some poweder for a week and jsut stopped no problem, its stupid and dirty in my mind. but was i addicted to one of the most addicting substances? NO, i quit and have never touched it again.

my friend does the sugar every now and then because he FEELS like parting and shit, not because he needs it. hell he goes months at a time then its around and hell do a line. this was an avid user everyday for 4 years. all types of shit X, mush, lsd, acid, coke, weed, pills... and he only smokes weed now.

what im getting at is sure some people are weak in the mind but that doesnt mean you cant control your actions on what is being ut into your body.

if your friend wanted to stop, HE WOULD STOP. yet he doesnt want to obviously so hes not gonna let go.

its a mind game... CAN YOU PLAY?

Wait, why is the government policing illegal drugs? Oh yeah, because PEOPLE CAN'T DEAL WITH IT, THE ADDICTIONS OR THE SIDE EFFECTS. This brigs up an ethical dilemma. Why would the government allow substances that are harmful to people? Common sense. The government is trying to protect people.

You have zero grasp of ENGLISH. noone uses a majority of their brain! nobody. we all pretty much use about 17%. that's a lot less than a majority. and the fact that people keep doing a drug even though they want to stop is an addiction. yes they CAN stop. I could shoot up herioin and stop but that doesn't mean I don't feel an addiction. I'll wake up the next mornning and want to shoot up that's what an addiction is!

Weed IS NOT PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE. It is however mentally addictive. Two totally different types of addictions.

forget THC, it's not about that, it's about being high. You like being high and you want to be high again. You like being high more than you like being sober! that's a mental addiction. It's the same as a sexual addiction, you like having sex so much that you cheat on every girlfriend just so you can have sex 10 times a day. that's a mental addiction to sex. because sex makes you feel good just like being high, you want it more an more untill it controls your life.

something else to keep in mind is that when you look at statistics of addiction, damage that can be causes, long term physical health problems, and public acceptance, Alocohol is the most dangerous and addictive drug there is, and guess what, its legal. On the other hand, cigarettes, are also legal, and rank about 7th in terms of danger (I don't remember all the classifications betwee Alcohol and Tobacco), however, Cigarettes have been determined to be as hard as herion to quit, for some people, mainly because of the publicacceptance that cigarettes, while not liked, are publicly tolerated.

Now on the the other hand, who are the two biggest contributors to anti-marijuana legislation? Phillip Morris and Anhueser Busch (I know I spelled it wrong). Why, because they stand to loose the most from the legalization of weed.

a physical addiction is when your body actually needs the drug. you can die coming down from certain drugs (and that's a Mo' fuckin FACT YO!!~11!) that's because your BODY is addicted to it. it is accustom to the drug being in your system and once the drug leaves your system your body starts to shut down without it.

so if you can stop then its not addicting, for something to be addictive it has to bring you back to doing the task: drinking, smoking, shooting up what have you.

now if liek you say you shoot up heroin 1 day and then stop, your going to NEED the drug to survive.

see i think ur messed up on what addiction really is. when someones addicted to a drug then need it to function.

have you seen someone coming off a heroin use?
they about die when their body doesnt have the drug present. if they fight and dont give in to what the drug wants they surpass addiction. once they get pas not having it in their system, the body recognizes its back on normal fluids and doesnt call, addiction, for the drug anymore.

you guys really need to look and study the word and whats its for.

its a mind game... can you play?

' are you serious? Perfect example (which I've already given) is herion. Some people, if they have used herion long enough WILL DIE if they stop. This is the reasoning behind both Methadone and Great Briton's governmentally controlled distribution of herion to admitted addicts. The way herion works is by providing a rush (an increase) of a chemical in your brain (I do not rememeber which one). Now, your body does produce this chemical naturally, just not at the same level. When your body realizes there is a surplus, it slowly starts to shutdown the production of said chemical. This is what causes the cravings. Your body needs this chemical. Thus, it creates a craving for more, gotten by herion. Now as you supliment this chemical, by using herion, your body starts to produce less and less of it, and eventually, with prolonged exposure to herion, can eventually stop producing this checmical. You cannot live (incapable of sustaining life) without this chemical, which is why some people would die if they quit herion, or were unable to suppliment it with Methadone.

This is physical addition, which THC does not do in the slightest. However, it does create a mental addiction and want for more. You describe this as weak willed. However, it goes substantially deeper than that.

because first off i know i do, second its all in the mind.

everything is based around the mind. the mind does everything for you. once you figure out that ur mind is controld by YOU their are no problems.

but once you get overpowered by the drug, your mind now becomes the drugs mind and you have no say. if you dont let the drug take over in the first place it wont be addicting.

thats addiction in a matter of words, nothing more nothing less.
