ok, i just realized that a bunch of people changed this year. heres a list of guys off the top of my head. this is this season, 2001-02
Vinnie went from Sessions to Helly Hansen
Original Teneighty crew got pissed off at Salomon.
Turpin went to Line
Candide dropped Dynastar
Sarah went to Smith
Chrichton got a real ski sponsor in Volkl
Dumbass Salomon drops Philou and now has an all black Line (kind of unconfirmed)
And finally....

yah, Philou got dropped very shortly before the X-Games. he painted his topsheet all black for that comp and X-Games. then i heard @ WSI, Line and Levinthal had made him all black Lines.

and to the dude who started this thread - people do change their sponsors... skiing is a business ya know, with saleries (for some) and contracts and other shit... the pro's gotta make a living you know. You don't expect hockey players to play for the same team for their whole carrear do you? I'm amazed that you are amazed that they change their sponsors... it's not new, they have been doing it forever, and will always do it.

Candide left Dynastar, because salomon offered him more money. Dynastar and candide had a shitty pen and paper agreement, most of the contract was by handshake, so it was easy for him to leave. He still had another 2 years. Crichton is signed with dynastar, he's in next years adds. Vinnie left cause he had a fall out, Line is not sponsoring philou yet, but is on the verge of a contract, Turpin left cause fischer is GAY. And mike nick is cool cocksuckers, wow he used to ski board, he could kick your ass, make fun of pollard as well he used to ski board, but oh yeah wait he won best style of the year with phil belenger. after evrything that happend this year i think line is best ski to ride for... evan if they dotn have the best ski the do good to the sport.. if they where like salmon they would have droped skogen, laroch and others by now.. but there are looking into what helps the sport, whewr salmon and other big companys only want to help them selves.. well thats what i think...

here is your answer: if people did not care who the pros were riding for and no one noticed all the gear they had, etc, then ski companies would not sponsor them because they would not be making them money. the fact that kids see what the pros are wearing and riding on influences them to buy that stuff, which is the exact reason for paying pros to ski. if nobody cared then our industry wouldn't exist...

true enough but i don't understand this thread at all! the way i see it, factory pros are there to influence the little kids because as far as i can tell, most people here are capable of making decisions for themselves about what they ride and are not influenced by who rides for them but by the quality and construction of the ski

i didn't say every single person bases every single decision off of what the pros do, but seriously, they are sponsored so their reputations can help sell the products. do you really think that many people would have bought candides if candide wasn't who he is? do you think that many people would be wearing puffy jackets if the oakley pros didn't sport them all the time? the list goes on and on. if you think i'm wrong then you are just about as smart as the pile of dogshit that you probably stepped in earlier today.

Puffy jackets are old school. If you look at ski shots form the 80's their all wearing spandex pants and puffy jackets.
Its pretty funny actually, I actually really like my 8 year old Chicago Bulls starter jacket, sure it my have some rips and some grease spots on it, but you just can beat the it for extreme skiing.
