Now I know many of you have liberal views and support the democratic party, so I ask that you respect this post and keep the useless hate out (its ok to disagree). This should be an intelligent conversation.

With that said, I can begin. I just watched his speech at the RNC, and I can honestly say I have never been so impressed and excited about what a politician has had to say. He nailed every key point for me, and if his claims come true, I see America becoming a much healthier (in many aspects of the word) nation in the near future. Honestly I wish he was running for president instead of Romney. Watching his speech I kept saying 'fuck yea!' Finally someone gets it. He understands this country is a business and is failing miserably.

I really hope we get to see him in the VP office next year. I wasn't too pumped on Romney being the Rep. representative, but now that Ryan is his running mate and hearing his view, I have way more faith in the future of this country's government.

i watched it too. i thought it was really good. but i wish they would actually go more in depth and explain how their plans work though. that would be nice

He definitely gave a good speech and i think he appealed to a lot of average americans. I'm watching CNN and they have a group of randomly chosen undecided independents to supply commentary and one of the number one complaints was how much he was trashing obama without offering a whole lot of information on his own policies. I am generally very liberal but like Mitt Romney because contrary to what he has been saying these past few months (he had to act more conservative to get the nomination) he is socially fairly liberal with more conservative fiscal views. Paul Ryan, on the other hand, has an extreme budget plan that i personally believe is too extreme and i know most independents share this same view. Overall his speech was very well done and bad news for the democrats. I did get annoyed with how much he was referring to his home town in wisconsin but I think he was doing that to be viewed as a good old american

Completely Agree.

As I have said before, its sad that some of these idiots have a shot at running our country. I have always been split between the two parties, but Romney's campaign isnt doing it for me. It seems the that the whole RNC is them bitching about how Obama shouldn't be president. What the fuck are they gonna do for the country? Doesn't seem to clear to me.

my favorite line (from an interview not this speech) was when he was talking about the keystone xl pipeline and he said that by obama not supporting it he is putting construction workers out of jobs... couldn't this same logic be used to support the increased production of things like wind turbines and solar panels?

Either outcome is not the best but Obama has my vote.

His education policy is better than Romney's, and he is more in touch with the middle/working class than Romney.

Well, you are right about one thing. America is a business, and it is failing horribly.

But none of the republican party's policy are going to fix the American "Business". In fact, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney will burn your country straight to the ground. So will any other conceivable republican nominee, and I'm ashamed to say that, but It's true. I mean, look at Grover Norquist. "Never raise taxes. EVER." Now the entire Republican policy is just completely absurd and unsustainable on principle (as if it wasn't already).

I mean, sure, Ryan and Mitt could probably get Wall Street back up and running by re-appealing the only half completed todd-frank, as well as eliminating a slew of other regulatory agencies. Who knows what they could do, let alone how FAST they could do it. America could be #1 again in 5 years. But again, it is completely unsustainable, and there will be another recession, and it will be tenfold worse than it has already become. If it isn't 10 years from now, it will be 20. Think of how many countries it will effect the next time around. You've seen the effects in your own country, and are living them every day. No jobs, university/college education is almost entirely utilitarian. We've been seeing the effects on Europe all year, housing crisis after credit crisis after bank bailout after reform after loans etc., the middle east. I mean, just take a walk outside and hear the bullets fly, the US is still a shit hole after 5 YEARS. Talk about a hangover!

Romney and Ryan won't bring anything new to the table. They're bringing the same old vomit and spreading it across the world again.

 If they get elected, forget it. Buy a shotgun and lock your doors.

Totally agree with you there man. He's not perfect.

^to i think cuzco? who posted the several quotes: i'm not familiar with all of them. Gay marriage is tough in the republican party. I feel like there are some supporters and some opposers, but the supporters dont wanna speak out, which is unfortunate. As a conservative christian, I fully support gay marriage and wish it were more widely accepted.

we need to invest in multiple types of alternative energies while simultaneously decreasing our need for energy. We can easily lower the amount of energy we use as a nation while simultaneously investing in a range of alternative energies to help move towards a more sustainable future. We can't just give up on energy independence and sustainability just because statistics like that make it seem impossible.

I also think it is somewhat BS but from some quick googling it sounds like we would need 1.3 billion wind turbines to move off fossil fuels and the us is about 3.7 million square miles so if anyone wants to do the math that could be the answer

1. what tax bracket is she in? Is that to federal or state taxes because no federal income tax is that high no matter what bracket...

2. Israel is an important ally in the middle east and iran has been making power stances that are alienating everyone who relies on the middle east for oil so I'm not too concerned about them

4. Factually False. We are now more reliant on hydraulic tracking than ever which is only economically plausible because of subsidies by the us government and has the lowest energy invested over energy return of pretty much any fuel at about 5:1 when wind is about 20:1

Yep. Obama's doing a pretty shitty job too, it's not entirely his fault though because he has very little real power to do anything about America's most elusive and intrenched economic and social problems.

Personally, I think he needs to grow a pair.
