I'm not one who likes reddit, at all. But this was pretty cool, worked well with their up/down vote system (when the site wasn't 503ing over the huge amount of traffic it generated)

He crashed his own AMA page. I think it's cool that he used Reddit as a campaign tactic. The same things hold true though; treading softly, avoiding questions, and the occasional personal answers. I was underwhelmed by the amount of questions he answered though.

By interesting tactic i hope you mean a tactic that appeals to the thousands young "hip" people who use reddit so he can get votes from uninformed youth. Obama uses reddit=cool=votes

actually pretty neat to read. the one day i dont look at reddit and i miss something cool haha. bummed he could only do it for 30 minutes because i saw a lot of good follow up questions

Actually I do want my president spending his time doing this. If you think the issue with the executive branch is that they waste time for PR, then you are dead wrong.

You can't argue that he should be spending his time dealing with the economy or war in Afghanistan. Are you going to argue that getting eight hours and thirty minutes of sleep is too much time wasted not dealing real issues? He's only fucking human, he has limits.

What are you doing on the internet when you can spend that time pursuing your goals? (see how I turned the tables to balance your the argument)

So? he's trying to gain votes, just like any other candidate would. Im glad he's seeking new ways to reach out to the voters, the last thing we need right now is romney to come to power, let alone any popular republican candidate.

Well if I was him, I'd do it more often. He had so much traffic in the thread that it was exceeding the reddit server bandwidth capabilities (which handle quite a bit of traffic...). He was able to address a much larger audience, and get his agenda out to many more people, many of which are a younger voting crowd. If anything, you should be bitching that he was at a rally earlier in the day (not as much attendance as online!) and cut it off to make it home for dinner in DC with his family. What a fucking inefficient president

Considering all the fundrasers hes been to in the last year insead of doing his job, i cant say im suprised. He hasnt meet with congress in the last few months and it seems that no politican can get ahold of him. but what do u expect when him and his party hasnt wrote or attempted to pass a buget in three years. Im frighten as to what exective orders he will pass to win the election

Too bad every question he answered was a softball, aka things we already knew about him. He avoided all questions about the NDAA, breaking promises on Gitmo, raiding dispensaries, drone stikes,where his donor $ comes from..etc. Obama's AMA made me think about less of him because he underestimates how much younger generations know. It is innovative though because Mitt would never do something like this haha.

I always find it funny that people complain about the president not doing "work" whenever he (since we have yet, YET, to have a female) goes to a campaign fundraiser or TV for publicity reasons. I mean do you really REALLY think these things are interfering with him getting daily intelligence briefings or communicating with the high level military officers managing conflicts abroad?

And I still don't exactly understand why anyone would want the job to begin with. At any point ~45+% of the country hate you, the days are long, if you can garner that much support you might as well be CEO of GE.

You know what job also sucks? Chief of Staff. There's a reason no one lasts longer than around 2 years in that position

You guys are acting like he will get more votes by going on Reddit.

Reddit is already a fucking ultraLiberal-circlejerk-jizzfest, and they were all going to vote for him anyway.

And he isn't the first candidate to do this. Gary Johnson, head of the Libertarian party, did an AMA earlier this year. And he actually answered questions nicely.
