utahs just as cool as colorado, colorado people can be kinda lame sometimes around the ski towns and stuff, not sure about utah, but from my little experience its better in that regard.

I like living in Utah. Lots of good skiing in the winter, good university, good people for the most part.
The mormon thing doesn't phase me. There are religious people in every state, most more extreme than the mormons anyway.

it means the people living in and around ski towns in colorado can be lame sometimes, i lived in summit county for two years and dealt with a lot of shitty people, still plenty of great people as well, but it definitely helped in my decision to leave. just saying, if your planning on moving somewhere the people you will be around is important to consider.

Well if you only lived in Summit County, you can't generalize about the rest of the state. It's not called Scummit County for nothing. All those gangster park rats with their pants around their ankles smokin weed in their huts.

Colorado is sunnier and has drier powder, although there is less of it. Its a quantity over quality matter. People wise I imagine Utah has a lot less kids looking to smoke weed and get hammered which can be good or bad. colorado has Breck, Keystone, Vail, Aspen, Steamboat. Utah has Alta, Snowbird, etc. Colorado has more tourists and shit. I really dont know which one just trying to give some facts. I know CU is a great school if you want to ski and has "better" ratings than U of U I am pretty sure.

^ well what does utah (SLC) have going for it besides the good skiing? The school is alright, but idk, its in the middle of the desert with a lake that you cant swim in or use in any other way. Are the people cool? The majority are mormons....

My experiences in Utah were amazing, if you're into anything outdoors I'd highly recommend relocating to the Wasatch Valley. Good people, low crime, and a ton of activities. People tend to blow the 'Mormon thing' out of proportion, I am Mormon myself and I avoided going to church while I lived there...and not once did I have any church member come up to me. Utah is a pretty wealthy state, and the housing market is good. You can find a nice house to rent for under a grand with multiple bedrooms, and bathrooms.

I've lived in Colorado for almost 2 years and I really like it. I almost moved to SLC this month but decided against it and I'm still here. I got a bunch of friends who live in SLC and they all really like it. I don't think you can go wrong either way, I'm sure they both have their pros and cons.

Move to Colorado. I live in a place where it is mostly Mormon and they get annoying trust me. It isn't a huge deal but it is a huge annoyance that never goes away. The only thing to do on Sundays is go and do something outside (ski, bike, etc.) which isn't bad, just hardly any businesses are open and you can't buy liquor and what not. But Alta is great..

Oh, and why can't anyone spell Mormon? It isn't "morman".

regardless of what all the polls say i think duluth is the coldest motherfucking place on earth my god, the wind whips off lake superior and just owns that place. to whoever said CO is cold... LOL, MN is way colder for sure

there was big debate over the "ice box of the nation" title a while back and a couple cities in colorado, (fraser, crested butte, gunnison) were actually colder than international falls. international falls stays cold all day and night while gunnison gets really cold at night and warms up in the day so the average is actually lower in gunnison.( i google random shit like this all the time.) and to the op, i'd go colorado, bigger mountains, better quality snow, cooler people, no mormons,  although you really can't go wrong with either.

i have a cabin up in the most common coldest place in the US (besides alaska). its "the most common" because it has the most days with the coldest place in the US. that place is stanley idaho

-High Quality Schools (University of Denver, Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado)
-Top rated Mountains (Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat)
-Denver is near everything

Utah if you want to tour and ski the most blower pow close to where you're staying and don't mind wierd people. 

Colorado if you want to stand around and bs about how bro you are with other bro'd-out bros, talk about 14ers and your rad duct tape wallet you made over a $7 starbucks latte then drive hours and hours to a single mountain filled to the fucking brim with gapers from Texas and "Mizzurah" as well as holier-than-thou locals that hate you.  I only say this because you are most likely talking about front range CO, which has good mountains but is incredibly overblown, overcrowded, WAY spread out- that and I have the worst habit of getting snow skunked AND sitting in traffic forever when I go there...  But that's just my personal opinion and others will obviously disagree with me.  I'm sure my experience is not universal by any means- and the idea of spending time on a vacation in the park just makes me want to kill myself, so I'm not a stereotypical NSer either. 

But CO does have tinytown and Kremmling if you want to get creeped out, which is always fun.

If you get into the backcountry (no not loveland pass) then you will see less people in general. Colorado is nice because it is SO easy to get away from people. You have much more terrain in Colorado. I have only skied Wolf Creek and Vail on resort. I can hear what you are saying about the tourists. Even at Wolf Creek we see some Texans, but not a lot. Most people who ski WC are locals or love the snow. There is a lot of stoke being thrown around. Once you head off of the mountain and ski Lobo or Treasure you will meet some really bitter people and some really helpful people.

If you know what you are doing you can easily get away from the tourists and enjoy the immense amounts of beauty the state has to offer

In my opinion there is one main difference. In Colorado there are a lot of resorts located along the same highway and in Utah the Resorts are spread out in different canyons and across the Wasatch Range. They have their pros and cons. In Colorado you can get passes that let you ski at several resorts, but the traffic can be an absolute bitch. Utah doesn't have the same deal except alta/bird, but the resorts are close and the traffic isn't bad.

Alta is straight up the BEST place for powder skiing in the us. if you do go to co stay away from vail, beaver, aspen, brek and keystone cause they dont get much snow and they have more gaper families per square mile then anywhere in america.

im in colorado, originally from new hampshire and i looked at both before moving out here. i really like the atmosphere and people in colorado, you meet a lot of really cool people here. another plus is you don't have to deal with the whack laws they have in utah, and also no crazy mormons here!
