Opus, rocker 122, or caylors

Sorry to make another thread about this but I need help deciding my next ski. I am 6'1" about 160lbs and am an advanced skier. I live in western Canada and ski resorts in inner bc like fernie and kicking horse and will be using these for pow, steeps, chutes, trees, and crud busting. I'm looking for a playful ski since I like popping, spinning, buttering and smearing off of any rise, drop or cliff I see. But I also sometimes get in a charging mood and like to rip though pow and crud and what not Anyway I have narrowed it down to line pollard opus, on3p caylors, and rocker 2 122s. I am leaning towards the opuses but I am not sure if they would get knocked around too much when I'm movin fast across skied out powder and steep harder snow. I am a bit lighter so would it be fine? Any help would be awesome!

All 3 will be very playful because all 3 are designated powder jib skis. That said, the caylors will be the most stable and chargey of the 3 and the opuses will be the loosest, with the rocker2s somewhere in the middle. Make the choice based on your skiing style.

^This is good advice OP, I have skied both the Caylors and the Rocker2 122. From what you described it sound like you would be happiest on the Caylors, their medium stiff flex makes them stable at speed and confidence inspiring on the landings, yet they are still playful and 'butterable'. I will link you to two reviews of mine one on the Caylor and one on the Rocker2 122. The Caylor review is more of a straight up review where as the Rocker2 122 review is more comparative.

You should check out the Faction Royale. A stiffer pow freestyle ski. Ive never been on it, but my buddy loves them and they are definitely in my own discussion for what pow ski im looking at for next season.

I demoed the opus last year  and it was a fun ski for playing around but i found dropping bigger cliffs it was a little too soft for me I ended up getting 181 caylors and have never looked back i am around the same size as you 6' and i weigh about 160 the caylor suits me better than the opus and it is better for doing what you are trying to do Although if I were you I would probably size up to the 191 for more stability.

OP I would go 191 at your size, although I am now the same size as you, when I bought my Caylors I was 5'9"/5'10" and never wanted any shorter.

191 Caylor sounds perfect for you. I'm 5'8" 135 and I ride 181s. I stunt around on them and they're good for that, but they love to go fast. Sounds perfect for you actually.

Thanks for all the feedback. Friend of mine also has caylors and he has nothing but good things to say. Would the 181 still be a good compromise between a poppy, jibby feel and high speed, variablie condition stability or should I step up to the 191? I heard they are really 195

They're 191cm measured straight from tip to tip, not along the ski (material length). The 191 will be a bigger ski, but I think you might overpower the 181's. Best to demo a set of either length early season if you can, Fresh up in Calgary should have a 181 Caylor for you to fondle and size up in a month or two too.

I'd say rocker 122, good for everything. Opus is softer, caylor is stiffer, been said already but just one more opinion.

I'm comming up from a 170 ( I know try are short, haven't gotten a new pair for thre seasons) so the 191 freaks me out a bit haha. Where in calgary is this?

HHAHAHA! too funny!

I have the opus - love them in pow, and strangely enough, in the park because they have so much pop and are so stable. The caylor sounds like a great ski too, I just have a tough time buying a ski I can't demo. Would love to try the caylor and the wrens - just remember - all the pow skis are good now. You will be happy regardless if you're actually skiing pow!
