Can someone post pics they took with their T2i?

autofocus is a no. you don't do autofocus when filming with a DSLR. i have a t3i, pretty much the same as a t2i, and it's awesome at shooting freestyle

Ya im pretty new to photography and i have been wanting to start shooting freestyle stuff on the mountain so im not sure what is good and not good if you know what,

but my budget is 800 but i wanna have some money left over for lenses and stuff to so im not stuck with one shitty lens haha.

also do you know what lenses would be good for trying to shoot freestyle stuff?

7) What program do you currently edit on? How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can make tutorials and know the keyboard layout)  I use photoshop and lightroom both cs6 and i would say im a 5 on them.

If it doesn't need video, skip the T2i and look at a used 40d or 5dc.

Dude, Sony makes sick camera's. Why you bashing? Nothing wrong with Sony at all. Just because it isn't as common Canon or Nikon, that doesn't mean it's bad.

Well i was specifically referencing their DSLRs in the category that he would be buying...

sony's high end glass is zeiss, and in my opinion zeiss destroys the shit out of most other glass. I shoot nikon and I'm trying to switch over to only shooting zeiss primes

not to start an argument but there was no mention or reference in your post to that at all. I would agree their low end glass is not as good but their high end glass is pretty awesome imo. I would absolutely love a zeiss 135mm 1.8 or 16-35 2.8

if your dad still has his d60 and is willing to let you use his lenses, you should probably go with nikon. not sure why everyone overlooked this

he has em but he doesnt have any of the lenses that i would be using i want a tamron 17-50 or a wide fisheye that would be good to film with and shoot some park stills that could also be good for scenery.

i think ima go with a t2i and get a tamron 17-50 most likly but im not sure if i should just get the body or is the kit lens worth it?

thanks man! ya ive heard a lot of mixed reviews on the kit lens so im still a little unsure but i have the money for other lenses if i just get the body so i think i might just get the body and then buy a wide angle lens or a fisheye cause i want to take a lot of skiing shots and film some of that to and ive heard wide angles are the best for that.

If your really only doing 10% video I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest skipping the t2i and picking up a 20/30/40 or 50d, they are great cameras; well built, good auto-focus and burst, and just a higher mp sensor as you move up models. They will blow the t2i out of the water in terms of photo performance. The t2i is like IDK for photo and great for video, the xxD's don't do video but they are so much better for photo. They are also dirt cheap these days, like $500 for a 40d with grip, cards, and batteries, more money for lenses.

As for your lens choice for skiing, there isn't a one lens solution, as much as I am definitely a wide angle person, I need a tele-zoom every know and then which is why I own one. A minimal setup would be 3 lenses, a wide zoom (around 18-50mm), fast standard (35mm or 50mm prime), and then a zoom like a 70-200. From there I would add an ultra wide angle like a sigma 10-20mm or a crop fisheye such as the multi-brand (rokinon/samyang/opteka) 6.5/8mm.

Both the t2i and xxD's have a crop sensor, which means that the 'effective' focal length on 35mm film would be 1.6x'; a 15mm would be a 24mm, 50mm would be an 80mm, and so on. Definitely keep that in mind when picking lenses, for example canon's 15mm fisheye won't be very fishy on a crop body.

What's your lens budget? Keep in mind good fast glass in always a great investment, it really holds it's value when compared to the cheap shit. By fast glass I am referring to the size of the aperture (see video), the smaller the number the more light the lens will let in, great for low light and generally it will be sharper at a smaller f-stop.



If your worried about money buying used is a great way to save and get more, often used gear is in great condition, especially with the nicer stuff as it is mostly pro's and am's that are buying and selling it.
