When I first read the title, I was thinking the Empire State Plaza in Albany and was like"Fuck! My dad works like three buildings down!" But still who the fuck try's to shoot up people at high security office building/ tourist attractions... we may have some of the strictest gun laws here in New York, but they are not that difficult to bypass...

Just to place devils advocate then...

Why does these keep happening in the USA? The frequency of these events is crazy - this doesn't happen anywhere near as often in Europe as a whole continent... take gang crime and drug related crime out of it, why do we constantly see supposedly normal civilian people go on public gun toting rampages in America - falling down style, with no real excuse other than - having a bad day, fired, gf dumped me, psychological problems.

I think that excuse is pretty much flawed - unless it's the psychology of Americans that is completely fucked - then the guns become irrelevant?

americans love guns and shooting each other that's all there really is to it. every time there's a shooting, even the people who weren't there are always like "if i had a gun and i was there i woulda shot back" and then someone else goes "we need better gun laws to keep the crazies from getting em but i still want them because i love guns" etc. etc. america has some kind of obsession with shooting everything and everyone and it's just plain weird.

Have you guys read the articles?

The only reason more people were injured was because there was a shootout between the dude and the police. He was not randomly firing.

He wanted to kill a dude, so he shot him in the head. A construction worker saw, alerted two officers and a shootout ensued.

If anything, this should show that even 2 well train officers can't take down a shooter with 1 shot.


This is sensationalist. It's blowing up the event to be more than it really is. The headlines are reading 9 injured, 1 dead in shooting. This makes it sound like someone went on a shooting spree, not that there was a shoot out between a dude with a hand gun and the police.

I'm sorry for those injured and the family of the dude that is dead, but at least understand the story or wait to see what unfolds before blowing it up.

Here's my take on gun control. I may be a little biased seeing as how my uncle was shot and killed by one of his friends who was mentally ill.

No full auto guns. You don't need an AR15 to defend yourself. Rifle, shotgun, pistol that's all you need if you need it for self defense or hunting and pistol is generous because they are too easy to hide. I think it would be better if you could only own semi auto rifles and shotguns but I know that will never happen

Everyone who wants to buy a gun should have to have taken the MMPI in the last 5 to 10 years.

Simple as that
