Bern hardhat safety

i heard bern hardhats are not safe? your thoughts/facts? thanks

They aren't helmet impact certified like many other helmets are.

Go for the ones that are that are EPS and are properly certified.



From the Bern site

"Available as a Hard Hat with a burly ABS shell with multiple-impact soft Brock® foam or as a helmet with ABS shell and EPS hard foam. EPS hard foam meets ASTM F 2040 and EN 1077B standards for snow and ski, CPSC and EN 1078 standards for bike and skate. Hard Hats with Brock soft foam do not meet the standards for action sport head protection."

You'll be fine, it's marketed as a multi impact helmet, which brings up the issue of how many impacts can the helmet actually take.

I got a bern carbon fiber helmet and hit a tree head on this past season and it saved my life.
