Hey guys, I want to learn backflips on flat ground. Anybody have advice? I'm afraid I wont get enough air. I can on skis and just standing trampoline easily. Help = +k. Thanks! Also sorry if its a repost just give me a link and I will let this one die.
Try it on the floor of a gym (like the springy floor) or on a mat first. Once you get it dialed like that you should have no problem doing it on flat ground.
easiest way for me was starting by backfliping running up a hill, then less steep the hill was the harder it got, its progressed to more of a gainer because i was running and going off one foot, then you can go to a standing back
Okay man its easy. Slap your right ass cheeck three times fast, then left cheeck once. Then do one marijuana and you just learnt backflip! Congratz man, your backfskill is now 2!
Ight listen up yo! I picked it up in around 10 minutes with 2 gymnasts teaching me how to do it.
Youre gonna want a friend to help you. Do this in some soft grass or better yet a mat
Begin with trying to jump as high as you can, and when you jump bring your arms up like youre doing an open streamline, keep your legs extended when you jump, not like youre jumpin hurdles.
once you start getting to a pretty comfterable height, (this is where the friend comes in) youre gonna want him to stand behind you. Try and jump as high as you can again but towards the apex of your height lean backwards a little. as if you were trying to backwards dive over your friend, not that much tho. Your friend will spot you, have them hold you by the hips or back and bring you back down on to the ground so you dont land on your back or crush them. Do this quite a few times.
Once you have a few of those down, try and tuck a little (grab your shins and crunch up a lil) and have them still bring you back down, dont try and flip on to them
Now comes the sketchy part. the flip and the spot.
You need to commit, if you dont commit youll end up on your neck. There is 2 things to think about when youre attempting the first flip. Height and tucking/completing the rotation. Seriously, youre gonna only be thinking about flipping, youre gonna not jump high enough and fuck up. YOu need to try and jump as high as you can still, and not backwards, height is very crucial now. The spot will look like this, pretty good video.
After a couple of spots you should feel confident enough to attempt it yourself
a couple things to remember
-Height
-Over rotating is better then under rotating
-Dont just tilt your head back and expect to flip
-Tight tuck! have your hands on your shins
-Jump up, not out
-You most likley wont land it the first few times, keep trying.
-Take small 30sec-2 min breaks between each attempt, youll be surprised how tired youll get
Dude you cant ask advice for a fucking backflip. There is none. Thats ehat i realized after watching all the youtube videos. Unless its not a triple cork switch up on a rail, dont ask for dumb shit.
Its a fukin back. Flip. Jump up and tuck and do it. You land or not, no magic tricks. Only thing that limits you is your head. So better be smart, or take strong drugs so your head wont stop you from doing it.
I bought a temperpedic mattress topper from a guy on craigslist. 4 to 8 inches thick if you fold it. Stand directly in front of it with the topper/mat at your heels. If you under rotate you will land on mat and it shouldnt hurt. Follow the advice of everyone else. Throw you chest directly up and tuck. Don't look back. If you under rotate with the mat you should land it on flat ground because you will have longer time to rotate. Just go for it. All in your mind. Good luck.
I tried a backflip earlier this summer (for the first time) and landed on my head. I think I didn't tuck enough. I could feel my neck stretching in slow-motion like a piece of toffee as my weight came down on it. For the next 3 days, I had to sleep on bags of ice and get someone to hold up my head whenever I needed to sit up, lay down, roll over, get in the car, etc. It's been a month now and it's mostly better but still doesn't feel right.
So, as phil6x$ already said, get a spotter - don't try it on your own until you're certain you can rotate far enough to not land on your head. I know some people find backflips easy and get it right the first time without any help, but if it goes wrong, it's extremely unpleasant.
Also, here is a tutorial that seems very thorough & breaks it down in detail (I should have watched this first!): http://youtu.be/521NIVPIxWs
be a sweet snowboarder, get wasted, claim you can probably do backflips on flat ground, then bust a perfect one to everyone's surprise. this is the story of my friend Cody, it should work for you as well.
Just try it in the gym. I started off by trying them on those big fat and soft mats, and of course I under rotated a little, then I stepped up to 2 thinner mats (2-3 inches) and mostly landed on my knees (but pretty close to landing them), kept practicing and two days later tried one on grass. Once you try it on grass you'll have no prob. Trying them over and over, just make sure you start with mats
Have someone.. who actually knows how to spot, spot you. Tips are jump HIGH first THEN tuck. many people fuck up because they throw themselves back right away. The key is how high you are before you tuck
In your vid you trow with your head. You want to throw up with your arms and then bring your knees up to your chest. This will give you a much faster spin
