On Saturday, August 25th, we will be opening Jiberish Armory at 299 Newbury Street in Boston Massachusetts. Those who follow the brand on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have probably seen updates and photos over the past few months indica
ting a new location for us. The boutique will be stocked with the entire Fall/Winter Delivery 1 range and a special Armory version of the Starter x Jiberish "Boutique Series". These hats will only be available in-store.
This will be our third Jiberish boutique and our first East Coast location for the brand. When we opened LoHi in the Winter of 2009 it was a major moment for us. It was something we had talked about for years but it never really seemed possible. But once we opened the doors we quickly realized how important the physical presence was for us. We could fold and display the clothing the way we wanted to, play the music we liked, and connect with our customers directly. It was so much fun for us that we opened our second boutique, Vault in Park City Utah, 18 months later... and before we even started construction on that store we had begun talking about Boston for our third store. Now here we are a year later with a new store on one of the most famous and highly regarded retail streets in the US. 5 years ago having even 1 store felt so out of reach for us. It all seems kinda surreal to be honest.
Our point is that we could never have imagined this when we started out with our $417 clothing order of 12 sweatshirts and 12 t-shirts (which were printed the wrong color by the way). While we still have a long way to go as a brand, many of our customers backed us from the beginning and watched us grow over the years....and that means a lot to us. No one starts off executing perfectly and thankfully those customers realized this. But they could feel the passion and integrity behind what we were creating. We focused on the brand and not short term financial gain unlike so many other new companies. As we grew we got better at our craft, developed as designers, and surrounded ourselves with a network of people who wanted us to succeed.
So here we are getting ready to open a new Jiberish store on a street with brands ranging from Ralph Lauren and Rag & Bone, to Nike and Levis, to Channel and Loro Piani. And With Newbury Street's incredibly rich heritage and history, it is an honor to be a part of the street and its culture. We try not to get on the soapbox very often but this is a major moment for us and everyone who helped us get here. And to those of you out there who want to carve your own path, do it. When we started we had no money, no experience, and no connections. Just a lot of passion and a dellusional sense of what was possible.
We look forward to connecting with you in Boston.
