Marker Squires Suck!

I got the marker squire bindings in a combo with the K2 recoils all for 525 bucks. I'm just hearing that they suck. I am an aggressive skier, just wondering if I should get a different pair, I do like the adjustability though.

Any issues others are having, I saved a ton of money. Don't know if I can give them back simply becuase it was a combo deal.

Just want input on these bindings?

So you went from Squires, a 12 (or 11? idk) din novice binding to Jester pros, a top end aggressive binding? Hmmmm sounds like you buy gear based off what makes you look "good."

Second, Jesters do not have vertical toe release, you are not going to eject on a tip digger like under rotating a backy. You will not eject on squires either in that instance. This has nothing to do with how good the bindings are.

To OP, given your weight/ size, you will probably be fine on the squires. I know kids who ski pretty hard on them without major issues. And you overpaid.

Look back at what I said. I said they are Like a demo binding. Just like demo bindings they are not mounted to the ski totally. they are on a plate thats mounted to the ski. Just like a demo binding they do not give you the full control as a fully mounted ski.

The main point I trying to make is you don't need a binding that changes stances. I think any good skier should now how to ski on all terrain accordingly. Less control equals less stability.

Well, you paid $525 for skis that you can get for ~$300 and you can get better bindings for ~$150. Check out bst for bindings.

you get "beefed" because your "opinion" is completely unfounded and ridiculous! you told a 137lbs skier to buy nothing other than an 18 din binding...you're basically giving this kid a torn ACL! you should really stop posting...



to the OP, if you bought Recoils with the Squire Schizo you've more than likely bought the Recoil with the schizofrantic inserts. my advise would be to go buy a set of Griffon Schizos, mount them using the plates that came with the Squires and sell the Squires. the multi-hole plates that came with the Squires are the only ones that will work on these skis. the Griffons will be a stronger binding and hold up much better if you're a more agressive skier.

have you ever tensioned or even looked at a binding? its not only 18. its 8-18. he can ride a low 8 if he wants. but he said that hes an aggressive rider and the suggested weight by marker is that if you are 130+, use the griffons, jesters(highest reccommended) or jesterpros. look at what marker suggest before flippin shit again.

just because the bindings could work doesn't mean those are the one's to go with. also, just because he falls into the weight range recomended doesn't mean that it's a good binding for him. a 137lbs skier should not be on an 18 din binding at all. 75-90% of the people on 18 din bindings don't need them and are just trying to look cool.

yeah im militant because i say that youre opinions are "unfounded and ridiculous! " and that "you should really stop posting... " im not judging your opinions am i? and no. i had griffons when i was 140lbs and had them mounted by a professional at crystal mountain. i popped out almost everytime i dropped a cliff. markers are not good bindings if you are a truely aggressive skier. and again, if he is still gaining weight, he should get jesters at least because they range from din 6-16. (THIS DOES NOT MEAN HE HAS TO KEEP IT AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE). but do what you want. i have my own opinions. dont judge me. and dont comment unless you have something more professional or nice to say. this is viral, saying something mean to people over message is not going to change their opinion, hurt there feelings, etc. its just going to make people look like an ass.

Not really - Pep is so heavily tied into K2 and EP is linked very tightly to Line. As both are owned by the same group that own Marker they would likely have to walk away from the whole thing in order to change.

I have fks 140's on my scimitars for pow skiing, should I disemble them and center mount them on the recoil?

If that were true both Sean and Seth would be on Marker too, but instead they choose to ride salomons.

Athletes do get a choice in who sponsors them, and really there is nothing wrong with marker so why not. It may surprise you but Marker sell more bindings world wide then any other manufacturer, so they must be doing something right

I've noticed a couple of K2 athletes on non-markers... I suppose you could look at it this way... chances are they could have free Markers (or even get paid more to ride them), so why don't they?

Marker (particularly the Royal series) deliver a fairly decent binding at a competitive pricepoint. There's no reason why they shouldn't sell, also factoring in that a lot of shops stock, realistically, the products of perhaps 1 or 2 wholesalers. If you're selling a lot of Line + K2 + Volkl you're inherently going to shift a lot of Marker bindings.

Not necessarily. A dealer's order for K2 or Line or Volkl is not tied in anyway to the sale of Marker's flat bindings. A Marker flat binding order is handled separately.

Shops continue to sell lots of Marker because they have a 52% market share, which is absurdly high. If a company has 25% market share they are considered to be a market leader... and they have 52%.

samesies, only my marker m14s from back in the day got ripped out once, and that was most likely due to bad mounting ....

as for the squires, a friend of mine who's pretty big got these for his hellbents (he's not really into all the new gear and he thought he had bought griffons but turned out he got squires) he rode em entire last season and even did two freeride contests on them and they held up fine ...

i know there's a lot of trashtalk about em but now that you have em, give it a try before judging !

I don't see why you couldn't as long as the holes don't interfere with each other. Personally I think getting Griffons to replace the Squires will be your best course of action. This way you can mount the bindings yourself with no drilling.
