Heavy/Stiff Ski Problem

I have 177 4FRNT Piques:
They weigh 1.95kg(4.3lbs.) and feel very stiff. I find it very hard to rotate off jumps. I also find it impossible to butter and i am constantly falling of rails and boxes.

why would you purchase an all mnt ski if you want to throw butters all day long. They are probably going to be stiff. If you wanted a soft ski, prob shoulda made a thread to go with the hundred other threads in Gear Talk so everyone could have just told you to get afterbangs or some shit

Basically what he said? They seem to be a ski deliberately aimed not to be a freestyle ski. They are quite heavy for the size/width, They are also probably mounted way back which is never good for swingweight, and will also make butters harder. For what you described wanting to do, you definitely have the wrong ski.

Notice in the specs, All Mountain = 10 and groomers = 12......park = 2.

Those skis are clearly not meant for park riding. Do you know where you mounted them at? Mounting too far back from center could be making it hard for you to spin properly.

Weight is irrelevant though. Sure it may be kind of annoying but you'll get used to it. And stiffness is all personal preference and shouldn't affect your ability to slide rails or to spin. Considering that they arent made for park, however, they may have a strange flex pattern which is throwing you off.

I used really stiff skis back when I weighed 120 pounds and while I couldn't butter very well (still can't haha) they worked fine for rails and jumps.

i dont understand how most of the stept guys that are on k2 which i know aren't the lightest skis along with the pivots which aren't very light ride huggge k2s (shea and clayton) there skis are like a good 5 inches above their head. it seems like they must be so damn heavy and hard to maneuver

Longer skis have such a solid feel to them.shortest skis i ride are 189 and they feel so much more stable then shorter skis i have ridden

rotating on jumps could be because of the mount position. if its not centered the swing weight might be off. and yeah, stiffer skis make it harder to butter cause, obviously, they dont bend as much or as easily as a softer ski, which is pretty much what you need to butter
