I always liked the 10-star system. I felt it gave everyone a better ability to rate a wide range of feelings about something.

However, it was very simply completely broken and way too gameable. It flat out didn't work, and good media was blasted into the annals of the internet constantly.

Love it or hate it on a personal level, the new rating system outputs drastically better results in the end.
