U heard me who else thinks they suck. they break all the time. and the only place they are usable is in the park. And skiing is not all about park. Get some real ski's like salomons.

Haha yeah its about time someone steps up and says that. I saw this pair of lines on a ski rack one time and and there was ducktape up and down the entire ski because the whole thing was delamenating.

different skis are good for different people.

i agree that the lines of the past havent been good for skiing all over the mountain, i waited all season for my motherships to come in the mail, so i was forced to ski on my skogens... i had the worst time skiing in pow and trying to haul ass on them. i was forced to bust out and oldschool pair of rossi 11.5 cuts.

but i guarantee that line is stepping up production quality, the motherships now have metal in them for torsional stiffness... which will create stability at high speeds... and the new skogens are stiffer and wider... i skied them on the top of mammoth... and they skied pretty well... definatly not a pow ski.. but they got the job done.

when buying skis try demoing first, try all brands.. line may or may not be the ski for you... but if it is then you can be proud to support a ski company who cares about where our sport is going rather than money.

Lines suck for some people in some situations. I would never buy them, but if yo uwanna ride park, or you are small, they are awesome skis.

Hey, I'm 200 pounds and well over 6' and my LINE Darksides kick ass. The whole year was one epic powder day here in Idaho. They float fine, I've hucked huge on them, fuck, I even won a few expert class races on them, and I've never had even one big scratch or dent. Find some style or hell maybe even technique and maybe you wont break your skis.

yeah, i agree with penguino, my darksides rock.. they are i guess two years ago model, the gray ones with the little head things on em, good looking graphics, i had no problems with them whatsoever. my friend's new skogens delamed right away too, he had to get em sent back (they gave him last years skogens too as opposed to two years ago skogens) so maybe theres differences based on which model you get? i ride my darksides all over, powder, park, ice (we get that a lot in vermont) and they handle fine and only have a few scratches which i think is normal. i like my lines a lot, but hey if they arent for you, then i hope ya find somehtin ya like.

yo if ur a good skier it shouldnt matter what skis u have man, i know ppl that can kill the moguls on lines even tho they have no edges. Yes the type of skis u ride might help u to a certain extent, but for the most part its the skier. so stop the bitching about skis, jus go out and use the ones u have (providing u have snow where u live)

ca$h, i couldn't agree with you more. I live in Jackson Hole, the capital of extreme skiing in north america a i ski my skogens every where. In the trees, powder, crud, bumps, cliff, BC kickers and the park and pipe. If you can't ski the Lines big mountain, you can't ski good. You are used to letting your skis do all of the work. With lines sometimes its not the easiest to do stuff but it sure does make it fun. The skogens a the most versatile(sp?) i have ever owned the rule in the pipe and park and they can rip all over the mountain. Sure at high speed they are not the most stable skis, but i manage to keep up with my racer buddies. It makes it fun as hell when you have to actually aply your skills to prevent eating shit when you are hauling ass. Not only can i ski all that stuff on skogens, i do it all on tele bindings. I never have trouble keeping up with my buddies with 'real skis' like salomon. So i suggest billdance, don't rip on lines just because you suck and cant adapt to different skis.

I used to think lines were crap too but I got to demo some of the 03s and I'm trading in my 1080s for a pair of skogens. -compairable performance, center mounted, equal tip/tail, and killer art work- what more could a man want....... besides sarah burke.

well, i agree that lines are too soft for most anything. i completely disagree with what Baker said about if you can't ski lines all mountain then you can't ski well. with my skogens i couldn't go fast at all without being afraid i was going to die cause they skis were so soft, but that doesn't change the fact that line is giving more to the ski industry than any other company out there, and within the next couple of years they will make some sick skis for all around, once they get around to it. i also think it is funny that you refer to salomon as an example of a real ski company. salomon treats its riders/customers like crap, none of their skis stand out, at least to me, as great, and they have duribility problems just like lines, but at least line stands behind their product when they break. when i broke my x-screams in like 5 days salomon was a bastard about it. this year i broke a dragon and skogen both after about 5 days, but line promptly sent me new skis, no questions ask. line's product many not be the best in the industry, but the company itself is lightyears ahead of the rest.

sorry to say it, but lines do suck right now...they dont have the years and years of experience of making skis that companies like rossi and salomon do...the skis delaminate, lose their flex and dont perform as well as other skis over the same amount of time...they will, however, get better...and as for someone saying that skis dont matter, it's the skier....very true...to a certain point...some skis will help in some situations, other will be better in other conditions...but have you ever tried skiing a pair of race skis in waste deep pow??? it doesnt work, compare fattys to hella-shaped skis, and you'll really notice the difference, it's still possible to use anything, but the better skis (surprise) work better

Lines are good skis. The only reason I dont own a pair is because they only come in smaller sizes. I have demoed the darksides and they were super nice. Like anyother non pow ski, they dont float well. So what its an allmountain ski. Plus who cares if they aren't the best quality ski and have the best durability. Line has the best warrenty on the whole market, if the break, they send you new skis. All you line haters better open your eyes, because each year the skis are getting better and better, and you will want to be skiing on them!

Okay basicly kids this is how it breaks down.

Park skis suck ass. It doesn't matter if they are line, salomon, dynastar, etc. Park skis in general are made with some of the shittiest materials on the market today.

A typical park ski, is a foam core, cap construction with no type of lateral re-enforcement, basicly the most ass cheap possible way to produce a ski PERIOD. why don't they spend more on park skis? Read my reply to the artical: 'the truth about this hell shitty industry'

I'm backing up Dirty, A soild skier can ski more or less any ski, anywhere. The two layers of Ti in the 03 mothership give it the best dampening and drive at speed through shit cake crud of any 182 twin tip I have ever ridden. Thats not to say that it skis like full blown freeride ski. If you want a ski that can hold its own in the shit, you'd better get one designed specificly for that purpose. Point- if you want a park ski get a park ski, if you want to go shred the gnar, go get a ski designed for that purpose, neither can replace the other. Buy two pairs of skis and quit bitching.

But back to park skis, Line does not suck, they have the best warrenty policy of any ski company around, if your edge cracks, or they delam they replace the ski. Good luck getting salomon to do that.

Support the companies that support skiing.

i would support line, but (and i've said this before) i'm a poor ass bitch, and if i can buy a really good pair of skis for the same price as a pair that wont ski as well, or will break (regardless of warantee) i'm gonna get the better skis....if and when i get money i'll think about something else

the thing is that you can't make a ski that is excellent for both. It's been tried with the Mad trix. and you know what it's not the best 'skiing' ski and it's not the best park ski. it is good for both. and Line isn't trying to be good for both. so don't buy the ski and expect it to make you a powder hound. hell... don't buy a powder ski and expect it to make you one either. the thing is that any ski can be ridden in most any condition. if you say they don't 'work' at all in the powder or on hardpack... then you're not skiing them right. so some skis are better than others... stop your whining you bought a park ski... you got a park ski.

Line being bought out by karhu makes the quality better but not the 'ugly shape'. Karhu can never help out with that, they make the ugliest shit in the world. They made their own model to the mothership called the Jak and it has the ugliest graphics of any ski ever invented.

oh yeah, iggyskier i think in you are go enough you can ski the skogens anywhere and make them work well. I went to grand targhee on a 3 ft powder day and had a great time on my skogen. Sure sometimes its not the easiest thing to haul ass and bust through crud but it challanges you to get aggresive and ski hard. When it is scary as hell because your ski are wobbling it makes 10 times as fun when you get done with a run a you didn't eat shit.

And by the way the mad trix is a piece of shit ski. the only twin tip truly made for both is the K2 enemy.

although fatty twins are sick as fuck too.. i rock my motherships in spring slush and they kill it in the park as well as on top of the mountain.

although other companies make fat twins and twins, wouldnt you much rather support a company who will put your money towards creating better twin tips, rather than creating better recreational skis? i sure would

this is the exact same thread as the hella shity industry thread. The matter of fact is that the companies that make you 'good skis' could care less about your dollar. If you look at ski sales the number of twin tips to the number of rec skis, racing skis, rental skis, or even beginer skis is pathedic. So why would they try overly hard to make a better ski (oh look at your shitty warenty as well, if they last a season you need to probably buy new ones and I'm sure they just hate that). Now there is line. The first ski company to form for our type of skiing, and I'm sure there will be other ones to come along. These are companies you need to support because they are some of the biggest supporters of what is happening. They are in it for the skiers and the movement (best dam warenty too).

Yes, i aggree with Bill Dance. Salomon's kick ass. i got nuthin against line, they are a cool company, cool lookin skis, but ride like shit. Every kid where i ski that had em either split the tip, or they just snapped. Sum guy i know broke his into 2. And i have salomons, and thia one rail was killing everyones edges, but mine and sum other gut with salomons. I have skiied about every day of the Midwest ski season (and i ski them suckers pretty hard) and they still haven';t let me down. SO, IN CONCLUSION, GOOD CALL BILL DANCE!!!!!!!!
