Before I purchased my t2i I was using a t3:
The t3 felt very cheap all around, not only in quality of product but also just quality of the camera overall. It is made out of this cheap plastic material. Its sensor is lacking so much in picture and video quality. I would say starting on it would be okay but for the extra couple hundred you can get the t2i which is so much better in so many ways. The reason I got my t2i is my t3 broke. My tripod simply fell over onto gravel and it shattered the sensor. I have taken my t2i out on the mountain so many times where its been dropped (in snow) rained on...ect. It is in perfect working condition. The durability is significantly better in my expirence. Thats just me. Not to mention the video quality is just million times better. With the added 1080p is crisp and clean when you have a slower shot and then the 720p in 60 frames when you are filming sports brings so much life to the video and unity in those slo-mo shots, its not so "clicky" or lacking frames which happens with the t3. If your just looking to start things off I would say that the t3 is a half smart decision but like i said, invest a little more and you will get so much more with the upper rebel series. Hope that helped. PM me if you would like to discuss more. Thanks! K+
