Moving to toronto

I'm moving to Humber (lakeshore campus) in res pretty soon from Ottawa and wanted some opinions on the best local places to hit up for skiing (im not crazy for parks, more into some sick trails/pow/closest thing to that i can get).. Other than, yknow, obvious places like blue (and hopefully not as far!).

unfortunately theres not too much pow and tree runs in ontario, put if you hang around enough you'll pick up some. theres some good stuff at blue and horshoe if you know where to look

i frequently find powder stashes at Blue Mountain (Collingwood). i dont want to give away all my good spots publicly, but if you go off the side of any major groomed run, where it looks like there are too many trees to ski (given its at least a month into the season) you'll find a few turns in knee deep snow.

I mean its not great, but its fun enough given your option

otherwise there will be 3-4 days where if youre quick enough to get there first thing on the morning of a big dump, you'll have a really good day of snow halfway up your boots. but by 1pm itll all be turned into moguls

you're about to get a rude awakening to Ontatio ski culture. there are a total of 3 hills within a reasonable distance from Toronto that you will be able to ski and they are extremely crowded on the best of days. my advice would be to ski during the week. weekends are just not worth heading to blue mountain or mount st louis especially if you want to ski outside of the park.

...and pow? you must be joking...Southern Ontario does not get pow. you might get "boot top" if you're lucky but there are no floaty pow turns to be had here. for the guy that says there is, you're full of shit.

ha, yeah, i know. i'm from ottawa. We pretty much call ice shavings pow over here, so collingwood is definitely a step up.. and that pic is a pretty big pow day for ontario.

on the days where blue just isn't doable (its like a 2.5 hr drive from Humber), there any places worth going to that are closer? hell, i'd be happy with a decent slope! It's pretty much all we get here in Ottawa.

I go to Humber (advertising 2nd year), and really there isn't much other than blue or mslm. All of the smaller hills people talk about are on the east side and are more or less the same distance/ not really worth it except for the parks. The closest (very)small hill is at Centennial park but I am not even sure if it opened last year given the shit winter.

I think I got 2 decent Ontario pow days in last year and blue seems to be the place to go for that kind of stuff (biggest hill). Their open tree areas aren't that big or challenging, so like camp fortune people find or make them. I imagine they follow bike paths, but I have yet to locate them. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up, and especially hit me up if you own a car as I am wanting to carpool.

And to the other guy, you can find pow runs all day if it snowed, you just have to be a little more creative than everyone else.

I feel sorry for you, I dont wish that city on anyone. However I grew up skiing glen eden for 10 years with occasional trips to mslm, horseshoe and blue mountain. And in college rode brimacombe a bit and it was a pretty fun hill.
