I've lived east coast my whole life and skied park and pipe for like 9 years now but my Dad got a job in Whistler so we moved here halfway through last season and I got hooked on powder skiing. I skied the 184cm Salomon Rocker 2s from the rental shop on the deep days and I was really impressed with their playfulness and float but I'm wondering if there's better out there? I love to jib off just about anything but I also like charge big lines and drop some cliffs and pillow zones. I'm 5'11 and 170 pounds and still growing so what length should I be skiing? And what ski do you think I should ride? Please give a reason why I should choose this ski too don't just name a ski. Any suggestion is super appreciated! Thanks!
I'm 6'0" and 185lbs, I currently ride Caylors as my everday. I have also ridden the 2013 Salomon rocker2 122 in the coast mountains. My riding style is pretty playful, I like taking tree laps, biting pillows and popping of every natural feature. I also however like to charger steeper lines with pace. The medium stiff flex really allowed the 191 to outperform the 184 r2s in the charging department, the flex also helped with crud busting.
I have inserted my reviews of both the Salomon rocker2 122 and ON3P Caylor, the Caylor review is a straight up review whilst the rocker2 122 has a few comparative overtones. I would link both review however as I am on mobile I can't.

Hope this helps, also if you got any questions feel free to pm me, Joey
Thanks Joey! I've been looking at the Caylors for a while and they look like a pretty killer ski. I used a pair of Filthy Riches for the park about 2 years ago and I found them to be really durable and fun, like I hear most ON3P skis are. The only thing that kind of worries me about them is the size. I'm used to skiing sticks that are usually around 175cm and even the 184 Rocker 2s seemed long. Do you think that I would be able to manage a 191? And whats the swing weight like on them too? Also have you skied the Bent Chetlers at all? I found a really good deal on a pair but I don't really know much about them except for that they can stomp huge landings like nobodys business
Swing weight on the Caylors isn't too bad considering the size of the ski, not the lightest but not dreadfully heavy. If you're worried about the length you could go down to a 181, this may be better suited if you felt that 184 r2 122 were too long. It is worth noting that in a shorter length and at your height they will feel more jibby/playful and less chargey.
Awesome man thanks for the help. I just measured my height and I'm 181cm on the nose so I don't think it'll be much of a stretch to ski the 191s. I'm definitely considering them now
I'd say go with caylor if you want more jib out of your powder ski.
If your looking for a little more charging go with the ON3P Billy Goat. I got it in the pre sale and cant wait to ski it.
Another more charging ski would be Atomic automatic. This is most likely what I would of got if I didn't get the Billy goat. I still want to test though. just to see the comparison.
I ride the 181 caylors and Im 5'8" and love the playfulness of them. Super fun just mobbing around and hitting everything with. Cant go wrong with them if you do end up getting them
volkl chopsticks. 128 in the waist, pretty stiff for a pow ski but surprisingly fun to play on. The whole fucking ski is rockered hahaha. Plus its got an extremely unique shape to it. I'd check em out, unfortunately i dont think there making them anymore, but still a sweet ski non the less! Anyways have fun in whistler, cant go wrong livin there. So jelly
Thanks man yeah I'm really learning to love it up here. Got any pictures of the rocker profile on those chopsticks? I'd love to see what a fully rockered ski looked like
shiros are reverse camber too, actually quite similar to the chopsticks. just go check out volkls website, you really can't go wrong with any of their skis
Look at the ON3P Caylors or 192 Opus. Youll want the extra size. I have the 185 but I ski primarily east coast and I know if I went out west I would want the extra length.
I've heard pretty good things about them but I don't know how I feel about a dead center mount on a pow ski... Also I hear their not as floaty as some other sticks out there and thats something I definitely want out here in the PNW
It down from what I hear. Also the opus'. New life's are dope too. 122 at the waist, full rocker/all symmetrical. I hear they rip. cant wait to ride them.
