I was thinking about building a gaming pc. Anyone want to reccomend parts? My budget is $700

Well AMD if you're on a budget. (4, 8 cores)
A 6770 would do you just fine.
4,8,12,16 gigs of ram.

I'm building one too, I'd definatly reccomend an AMD processor. Try to get at least 1tb of hard drive space

If you are new to building computers I HIGHLY recommend starting with a computer from here:

Further down the line you can replace the components one by one and learn about them one by one. It is like studying over a long period of time vs cramming. You will understand the computer if you take your time to learn it

definitely not an SSD fer sure. But ehh, thats a pretty damn expensive cpu for not even being Ivy Bridge.

Intel Codenames
1st Generation - I honestly don't knoww... ?
2nd Generation - Sandy Bridge
3rd Generation - Ivy Bridge

Recommendations
Intel
AMD

Anything that you get, get the graphics card that goes with the brand.

AMD - Radeon/AMD
Intel - Nvidia

This would be pretty good, slightly over budget but you can modify it a little bit.

keep in mind anything over 4gb needs a 64 bit os. microsoft 7 ultimate edition works best currently.

4gb's of RAM i mean. the os wont recognize the support if its 32-bit (x84)

The parts you get won't be shit unless they work together. My first build i bought a motherboard that was only crossfire compatible (Two amd graphics cards at once) and i bought two nvidia cards Which wouldn't work together on the motherboard.. That sucked. I ended up just trading my cards with a buddies and everything was dandy. But you might not be so lucky.

make sure you research it, if you dont have anyone knowledgeable enough to help you out. The worst feeling in the world is waiting for your part to arrive from UPS and while trying to get it running with your set up and realize its not working.

easily preventable, by looking into the details.

and by the way once you make one, you will get hooked, eventually want to sell it and build another...its fun.

Please tell me this is a joke.

Dont buy a computer from ibuypower, or cyberpower, shitty pcs.

Just goto Tigerdirect and look up Barebone kits in your price range, and what they're missing. Than do a bit more research, make sure its compatiable, and order. Building a PC is as simple as putting one part into the next.

still to some people its overwhelming, its probably easier for a n00b to just get a build your own kit thrown together for him and then upgrade parts when they are inevitably out of date.
