Widells gets more and more popular every year and for a reason: its a sick summer camp. People on here will hate but the majority of kids under the age of 18 love windells.

We usually work with High Cascade since we skate and snowboard. We rode Windell's skate park but not their on-hill camp.


But I think it's cool that Windell's lets skiers in. Is it worth the money?

Well i mean, windells was originally a skate and snowboard camp, skiing was added eventually and i feel like its really taking over windells in general. Like any other ski camp, its worth the money for sure.

Went there last year! So much fun, park was great and the skate park is sick! Although next year even if I had the opportunity to go back, I would rather go summerskiing with some friends, without going to camp. It was really fun, but I feel that the whole summer camp idea is more appealing to younger kids

same as when i went. i was 18 at the time. stayed with my younger brother & cousin in the house with the oldest kids (like 15 - 17). wasn't workin for me when i had already been to college. fun time nonetheless, but if i went back, i'd rather camp somewhere or something

Turning 18. Don't get me wrong though, I went to a Norwegian ski camp 2 years, and last summer I had the opportunity to go to windells thanks to some family members in the Portland area. And those 3 weeks I have spent at camps were so much fun! But this summer and probably the next couple summers I would rather go on roadtrips with friends instead of having to follow camp rules, besides it's a lot cheaper!

take that money and go on a trip to south merica for some real skiing. Windells is pretty sick but its filled to the brim with little kids. As an older person its kinda annoying. Not huge nightlife compared to the whistler scene either.

If I were able to save up enough to go to a camp next summer, which would be best for someone who is 22?

...are there people my age that still go to camps or would they hand me a pedo-bear shirt when I got there?

How does being 18 make you too old for a camp where many of the kids are a year or two younger than you? Is it because they cannot relate to your freshman year and buying cigs legally?


If I was you and had the money, I'd go to camp as many years as I could.

that depends on who you are coached by. i was fortunate enough to be in Collin Collins group and he truly wanted every single camper in his group to improve their skiing somehow! i know there are other coaches that do that too, however i did see some coaches that would basically just ski and not help the campers they are assigned. sure they are still skiing but it is a coaching camp. either way the skiing is fun (how could it not be). the camp is adequate. fine lodging, cool people, awesome contests, fun things on the side of skiing. i feel like any camp you go to will be fun just because of the skiing...seeing as that is what we love to do! Windells is a little expensive but if you really want to ski, learn, and enjoy the summer it is pretty cool...but in no way THE ABSOLUTE BEST. no camp is

i was lucky enough to have gone twice. most recently two years ago. i had an unreal time both times. the actual camp is great, i liked most of the staff and there was always something to do. my cabin counsellors were both super friendly and helpful. super easy to interact with. the food wasn't gourmet or anything but i thought it was good and it was essentially unlimited. the park was awesome as well, something for everyone to ski/learn on. there's some kids you won't like but thats just the way of the world haha. most kids are friendly and nice. both times i had great coaches who seemed genuinely interested in helping me and filming for me. i would recommend it to anyone for sure

My friend Makalu goes every summer and says its the best thing ever. I don't get to cause my parents are not d to drop that much money on a sport that I'm 99% I wont go pro in. I can't find a job either so I can't pay for it myself. : (

I'm sure it'd be a great time, but the money is just insane. $2,000 plus airfare for a week? With that money you could move to breck, buy a 5 mountain pass, and pay for rent for 3 months without having to work, therefore able to ski every day. I also just don't believe in skiing "coaches" when it comes to freestyle. I think you'd learn a lot more on your own skiing 3 months at breck everyday than you would at a summer camp being coached for a week. -- all for the same price

Spend 4 months rent and food at a summer camp? Not worth it one bit if your a sane person. Go to MHSCC and spend 1/2 the money and be allowed to walk to the gas station and get snacks.

If your 14 and loves to see your favorite internet "pro"s then by all means drop $2,000 of your parents money on Windell's. If you want to come ski during the summer and get better at skiing don't waste your money and go to MHSSC, camp, or get a cheap place in Government camp. Come late June or early July when we still have alot of snow and public is sick.

Doesn't that make his point even stronger? A pro is endorsed for skiing at a camp, then he speaks out against the camp for being too expensive for a small service

I don't think you really understand the way the world works. If Line skis (who I assume owns the name Traveling Circus), or whomever does own the TC name, is not getting a check cut to them by Windells, they are retarded.

Windell's would NEVER give us, or anyone money to do a session. In fact Line skis got all of the Line skiers tickets that came to Hood for TC week. So in the end Line end up paying for tickets so we can get kids stoked on Windell's.

Windell's mentally is skiers have no other place to go so your lucky to even ride the lane.

i dont think any summer camp is really worth the money when you can go down to mt hood and just rent a house and chill with some friends for less or the same price.

I went to Windells last year and the year before. It was so much fun granted I was not the one really paying for the camp. I learned so much from my 2 coaches Martini and Kutcher that insanely progressed my park skiing and regular skiing ability. However, looking back at it, I would now most likely not pay to go to the camp and but camp out in govy to ski the public park. Don't get me wrong Windells fucking rules but if I were the one paying, I would have chosen another option. Hope this helps.

Depends how you look at it. It'd be interesting to see how much money they make off of the promotion of TC week (not from Windells, but from campers/viewers buying Line Skis). When you think of all the other things they could have done with that money to promote their company (sponsored new riders, payed TC crew instead of paying for their lift tickets, funded another cool Line project) I don't know, just spit balling here because it's fucking stupid that Line isn't the one getting paid to bring some of their riders there for a week

also, I love line, so in no way am I hating. Just curious what the best "business" decision would be in this case

I think that every camp has its ups and downs.

Windells is best for kids 7-15. They have a sick campus and plenty of stuff for kids to do.
COC I think is best for 16+. You can run around Whistler and have more freedom.
MHSSC is good because its cheap and smaller.

All depends on what you are looking for and who is paying for it.

I shouldn't have used "paying" for tickets. It's all done threw product trading so they aren't really spending that much on tickets. Everyone has tight budgets and anything Line does has been well thought out.

Best week of my life.
 If you want half the features and to have to hike the park, go to mhssc. You definitely get what you pay for though. It is expensive, but skiing in the fucking summer, being housed and fed and given shit by sponsors and coached by pros costs a lot of money.

Andy is right. I've been to Windells for the past two years and it's a total waste of money. It's fun but not really worth $2000. I regret going to session 2 when I probably could have just gotten a house in govy instead. Won't be going to Windells again but I am glad that I've had the experience.
