tell your ACL not to be pussy...my ACL ripped the top of my Tibial growth plate off.....thats a mans ACL...no but yeah it did hurt alot. you'll be fine. not to mention i didnt even use my pain meds....i sold that shit. get at that t#kratom to ease the pain

thats what i came here to say. you can actually go up to them and say, "i am nervous, do you have anything to ease my nerves?"... they will respond with "yes, we have drugs, you can take them and have no pain or anxiety."

Six week mark tomorrow and I'm walking around no problem. Just waded through the breaking surf with no brace. First 3 days will suck. They'll be over before you know it.

Situate yourself in a part of your house that's open, has a bathroom and a TV.

You'll have spurts of pain that last 10-20 minutes once or twice a day for the first three days that are completely agonizing. You won't know why it hurts so much or what is hurting, you won't even be able to comprehend what the pain feels like. All you'll know is that something feels very very wrong and you will be in agony. In those moments just lie flat, grit your teeth and bear through it. Take the oxy (or whatever drug they gave you) and you'll be loopy/relatively painless soon enough.

You're going to want to have some sort of urinary dispensary. I used a nifty little funnel duct taped to pool noodle which drained into a bucket. You'll be able to get up the first day because of the anesthesia and drugs in your system but after that it'll be far too painful to get up for about 3-4 days.

Once your up, keep working. Get up every day for longer periods of time. You'll feel a lot of pressure when you're first standing up with your leg hanging down. Blood rushes back into it and it gets incredibly painful. Each day starting with day 4 I would take one more step away from the bed. This will hurt but you're going to need to grit through it and push forward.

Physical therapy is a necessity. Do what they tell you no matter what, always keep up with the schedule.

Find things to do when you're out. I did a lot of photo/video editing, watched about 40 movies and spent days on ns.

DRINK A LOT OF WATER!

Before you know it you'll be through it, walking like a normal person. It's rough but it'll breeze by. Having friends keep you company after the first week is a good idea. Really helps lift your spirits.

Youll be good man. The painkillers are intense and shut down anything too serious. Ive had a femur repair with 6 screws and a titanium plate put in, 2 screws in a wrist, another surgery to yank the plate and screws off the femur, brain surgery. Painful crap man. Its nerve wracking going in, but you come out, you recover, and its not that bad. If your nervous about the dangers of anesthetics, dont be. That shit is so good the chance of any serious complications is like .0001 percent. Best of luck with the surgery, dont let it bug you too much, ACL repairs are fairly routine for an ortho surgeon and im sure it will all come out okay. And this may not make you feel better, but I wont lie the subsequent PT blows. There is just so much of it, and it seems like a never ending road, but it will. Best of luck bro.
