so i was wondering, how long does it take you guys to make a ski edit? or any other edits, not the filming just once you have the video tooken how long do you guys usually take on an edit?
If you count the time I put into procrastination? Months. If not? It ranges from days, maybe more. I could churn something out in a matter of hours if I had to but it's nice to come at it slowly, progressively, and with fresh eyes over a slightly greater span of time.
i have many times i shoot one day and do 90% of the editing that night. few more hrs of color/sound touch ups so probably average of 5-10 hrs per but it really all depends
I can put together an edit really quickly if I want. I find when I take my time the flow just comes out better. I'd say from organizing and renaming clips to final click of the render button I spend 5 hours for a 4 minute edit. This 5 hours is purely time spend working like people said sometimes up to 10. Timewise it takes me a couple weeks
The most time I spent on a ski edit year was probably 5 or 6 hours. I usually like to do all of the editing at once, I find it hard to stop once I've started
First time I ever tried imovie. My first proper attepmt I swear took me like 30 hours. Now with Final Cut I could bash one together in a few hours. All be it be ametuer and with GoPro footadge.
I spend more time on YouTube watching tutorials than actaully editing.
The least time I've ever spent on one was about 5 hours and I've spent up to 20 on season edits. I'd say it really depends on whether or not you work lots in one sitting because you are much more productive after an hour or two into it
ive done an edit in about 3 hours once because we lost half of our footage and i did minimal color correction. then i had one edit where one 10 sec clip took 9 hours to make and render in after effects. so all depends on the project and the amount of vfx/sfx i want to add
i rotoscoped two moving people against a wall and had to animate a mask within that. basically had to go frame by frame with the rotobrush cuz i had so much shit going on that it didn't want to stay where i wanted it. so by the time i got it done how i wanted, the image adjusted and all color corrected in the clip, and rendered out it took 9 hours
It really depends...like if I'm filming throughout like a month, and I start editing before I have finished filming then a while. If I have all my footage and am sitting down to make an edit.. Probably like 6 or so hours..or more
the main clip is @2:34 it was a royal pain in the ass. i should of just put a green screen behind him, woulda been much easier but didn't think of that til afterwards.
this video took forever to edit for many reasons but i had three after effects shots in there too
and idk if the transparency would work cuz both those guys are in front of it so either way i would have to mask them out while they are moving. the best thing to do would be get a small green screen and just have it right behind him as he did the motions then just mask out that little area of green screen and key it all out so you could stick the psd file on the bottom layer. that would have been much smoother but i didn't think of it til i was waiting for that all to render
