We are getting reports that 20 to 30 people have been injured in a shooting before 11 a.m. Sunday at the Sikh Temple, 7512 S. Howell Ave., in Oak Creek.

Flight for Life has been called.

Oak Creek police are not giving out any information at this point.

Oak Creek police, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies have responded.

There are reports that the head priest was locked inside a restroom with cell phone and said there was as many as 30 victims in temple.

As of about noon, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said it had not been called to the scene.

We will update frequently.

the first responding officer encountered the shooter, and was shot multiple times, including in the neck. The officer returned fire. The shooter is down on the scene right now, unknown if they are alive or dead right now.


That, right there, is a true definition of hero.

i live literally 5 minutes away from here... this is fucking ridiculous. 1 gunman is dead in the parking lot, not known how many more gunmen are inside with many hostages including children. 3 people in the hospital and a cop was shot multiple times and should survive. all i really know for now.

That sucks. Seems like these type thing always come in groups. After the VT shooting a kid brought a gun to my school, but he just waved it around at people before he drove away and offed himself.

Its because the media makes them famous. If you were a psychotic, depressed maniac (all assuming in this case), what would you rather do? Off yourself quietly and be forgotten about or take 20 people with you so everyone in America knows who you are?

That's all speculation though because whoever responsible could have been influenced by other means.

the cop that was shot was shot 9 times and is currently stable in the hospital.

Jesus, I knew about this shooting but that is just fucking... Too much. I have the goosebumps right now. What a fucking hero.

My cousin is an officer, and everyday I am scared he will encounter a situation like this. He is such a good man, as are almost all enforcers of the law, and things like this really break my heart.

But we could always bring back the assault rifle ban that Bush Jr. got rid of that would only serve to improve the situation. The only reason more people didn't die in the Colorado incident is because the guy's AR-15 jammed (which the student would have never gotten a hold of if the ban was in effect because everything he bought was done legally).

The only purpose of assault weapons is that they're fun to shoot. That's not a very legitimate defense against improving the safety of society from deranged psychos that are impossible to point out. You can still carry and use a LOT of really fun and powerful guns.
