It's 10:15, and I'm 2.5 pages into a 5 page analytical paper about this book.
Anyone else ever read it? It's a very, very depressing look into the poorest areas of NYC. If you haven't, you should. Makes you appreciate how lucky we skiiers are, to be able to spend so much money on our favorite sport......................

yes I have. it's an incredibly powerful book. really gives you a feel for what true ghetto life is like, and why people do what tehy do there. I think everyone should read it. it'll definitly open yuor eyes.

yeah i thought living in a town with all black people was bad, but a real ghetto in NYC is a lot more hardcore than a poor suburban town, and im glad i never had to expierience anything like it, and i really agree with the comment about us realizing how lucky we are, because people say they are poor and they dont have money for lift tickets or skis, but at least they have food and a safe house that they come home to every night, and these people have none of that, realizing how lucky we are is a hard thing to do, but its necesary in the secluded suburban worlds we inhabit

Sounds really interesting, how exactly did he write the book, like interviews and such or did he really go spend time down there?

he literally made a bunch of trips to the south bronx from massachusetts.
he basically just writes down acutal conversations with people living there, and adds in some other background information. very simple, very powerful.
