First football game of the season, running down the field for my 3rd touchdown of the game (claim) cut over to the left to avoid getting tackled. Instant pain shot through my body, limped into the end zone. Limped off the field, could barely walk without insane pain in my hip. Iced for the rest of the game, our trainer decided that I just pulled my hip flexor when I cut over but boy was he wrong.
It was about a month later and the pain was still at a 5 or 6. We finally decided to go down to Sports Med and see what's up, took X-rays. Doctor's saw signs of a possible labral tear. Great. Starting doing physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around my hip to help keep it from getting worse.
Another month passes and the pain is still there even after 4 weeks of therapy. Decide to get an MRI to check and see if I actually did tear my labrum. Later that day I get the news that I did in fact tear my labrum. The doctors want me to check back in in a month to see if it has gotten any better. The pain is still there and the tear is not bad enough that I would need surgery but too much that it will not heal on it's own.
All in all, in this split second decision to cut over to the left caused my to strain my abs, hip flexor, and quad, and tear my labrum. It still bothers me daily even if I keep up with all my bands and other exercises. I learned from this experience that I will have hip problems for the rest of my life because of the way my hips and pelvis are positioned. And if I do end up tearing my labrum worse, I will need surgery and 6 months of rehab. That was my latest injury.
