MTB edit critique

Hey all, just shot my first mountain biking edit and I am interested in your thoughts. Unfortunately, I was only able to shoot one run due to some unforeseeable hiccups (car/bikes sucking). I feel like I could definitely improve on the length and flow of the edit aswell as maybe the color?

Dug it.I'm about to shot my first MTB edit myself and all I can say is I hope mine is as good as this one. Liked the use of multiple angles on some shots where you would show a closer up shot of the just tires and dirt. The last shot was pretty smooth being shot from a car I;m assuming. I guess length could have came if you just saved the footage and filmed again sometime.

Nice shots!

To improve:
It seemed a lot longer than it was, you mentioned the flow above, and i think that is because of the song and the cuts
IMO, the song didn't fit with the shooting and the editing AT ALL; and while natural audio can play in very nicely, I didn't think it fit very well in this case.
I would have cut a lot of the shots shorter, with less lead in, and cut out sooner, too.

I would have used a different (maybe faster tempo?) song, and cleaner cuts to bring the shots together. A little bit of speed ramping (faster and slow-mo) could work better with a different song to create the flow you were looking for.


I think the footage is definitely worth a re-edit, the shots were very good

potentially the riding? other than that just trimming it a bit more. Everyone has their own editing style though and the more edits you make the better you get. I personally think it was good for a first MTB edit.

this is an edit I put together a couple months back.. I wouldn't mind some critiquing as hwell

 On some level, I definitely agree  that the song was not exactly congruent with some of the editing, but I feel like it keeps a decent enough energy throughout to match the riding. After watching a couple dh/fr edits, I can see that some of shots could definitely have been cut shorter or cleaned up. 

As for the other edit^^  the only things I didn't like were: the occasional crushed black and the song change halfway through. Other than that, it was pretty damn good.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Out of curiosity what about the change of song were you not a fan of, transition, song choice, wrong feel, or just feeling the first song more?
