I've been using a pair of kerma carbon fiber poles for over 10 years now and the things are unbelievable. They've had so many impacts and falls that would destroy an aluminum pole but they're still in pretty decent condition
there are 2 directions you can go. get nice composite poles that are really nice and light but risk getting them stolen. you can get cheap poles and they will bend eventually. i have gone both ways and had no poles that last.
I've found that going to goodwill, grabbing a pair for 5 bucks or less, and cutting them down to size is the most cost effective way to buy poles. Some of the older poles you'll find are heavy as shot and last forever too.
if you can find some really old poles, those are the best
the aluminum is way thicker
I have my dads old poles from the early eighties that I cut down to my size and i have beat the shit out of them for the last three season t= and they're barely dented
