VT Open gone now US Open Snowboard leaving East

After the elimination of the VT open- what once was the best east coast ski slope (pipe and rail some yrs) contest. Stratton and the East has now lost the US open of snowboarding

Plus no more dew tour. The only "big" contests i can think of are the Dumont Cup and the Carinthia Open.

This may be cliche, but this is why im moving out west when it get older, I really want to live in an area where skiing is ingrained into the culture. For those of you who don't know... Skiing isn't ingrained into the culture of Albany, NY(my hometown)

it's because vail resorts represents a bigger market share thru their SSV retailers than intrawest. burton pretty much made the decision based on money.

the days of big name events on the east coast are over until the economy turns around and people start going skiing again.

this is such bullshit. even being a skier i loved going to stratton to watch the snowboard half pipe and slope style.

You cant be stratton and have no snow and still charge what they did for the event to be at stratton.. Burton got pretty much the same deal they got with stratton at vail but a better snow guarantee and cheaper hotel rates for atheletes... stupid intrawest mishandled that one big time.
