I'm in San Diego for the week and I really want to pick up surfing. Never tried it before, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Would it be worth it to drop the extra money for surf lessons versus just renting a board and trying to figure it out myself? Karma for gud answers.
i took lessons a few years ago and found it super helpful, there was a bunch of different techniques that i was taught they helped me out a ton and was defiantly worth it
having attempted surfing on my own, without instruction, and having failed miserably (well it was a blast but i didnt realky get it) i would say lessons for sure. if u can afford it, and have the time, why not?
My buddy helped me learn to surf when i went out to san diego. We were in ocean beach (not sure what part of town that is) but i rented a board and wet suit from a shop 2 blocks away form the beach and it was 30 bucks for all the gear. When i was in the water there was another group there learning to surf and they had a private instructor so im sure if you walk along the beach you'll definitely find a place that will hook you up.
As a surfer I would deff recommend taking a lesson it's super helpful if your new and don't know what you are doing once you have the basics of everything being on your own from there isn't bad good luck man surfing is mad fun
