Alright, so we don't have cable at our place (mostly because we don't watch enough regular TV to really bother), so we end up watching movies on hulu/netflix, and most sports on ESPN's online stuff, or Fox and CBS's online stuff etc... (all three offer free sports streams) They all throw a few paid commercials in there, and probably make a killing for showing sports streams online this way.
But NBC get's the olympics, and requires you to have a cable TV subscriber to watch streams online... Why on earth would you watch the olympics online, if you already have cable or satellite TV... Riddle me this, NBC... because it's just silly lol.
